The "FBO Store" above and "FBO System" are two different places Right????

Any was, just wanting to hear a little feed back from those that have used them.

I don't have a Outlook account, so i can only contact them by phone. There message said Open Mon- to Thursday........ so i will have to wait until Monday to talk/ order anything.

This is what i'm looking at. Any one buy/used one of these?

Looks like a grate idea.....just wonder how durable?

Was looking at there ign system as well(HRR688c)

Have the ign module and coil in my Dart, works a lot better than the orange box. would not start hot, installed the HRR688c and the 1/4 inch return fuel filter and no problems since. idles better and a built in rev limiter, great customer support, what not to like?

One yah and no nays......so far so good!

How long have you had there ign system?

My buddy has been running the FBO distributor, coil and module since last summer. He swears by it. He bought it before the limiter plate came out so I can't speak to that.

i had their distributor in my dart. seemed to run better. definitely got the car moving from a stop with less throttle. i wasn't using his box or coil though.

years ago i had a couple friends that used FBO boxes and they seemed to go bad too often for me. the newer ones may be better though.

The other thing that really put me off with FBO was some pretty wild HP increase claims they made at some point. Memory recalls 40 hp increase with FBO. Listen. If your "new" ignition gains you 40 HP there was something SERIOUSLY wrong with what you had.

I have no idea, tho about the quality of the limiter plate product. This comes up regularly.

I just started using the limiter plate this year, so far so good. I'm building two mopar distributors so I bought the full kit the first time, it comes with a curve sheet for the springs. The second one I bought I just got the plate and springs. For the price and the "adjustability I think they worth the money. However, read on...

I found the numbers stamped on the plate that indicate 0-10-12-14-16 or 18 degrees of mechanical timing are not exactly correct. It may be a difference of tolerance of the factory distributors, or not. I did measure the slots on the limiter plate and compared them to the "weld and file method" measurements and they are different. To get 14 degrees of mechanical I had to use the slot labeled 12, and actually the 12 slot measures 0.352 which is really close to the 0.355 that the weld and file method calls for if you need 14 degrees. I found the same problem with the 16 slot (measures 0.395), it actually gave about 19 degrees. Again, I still believe these parts are worth the cost, just know that you may want to verify your actual mechanical timing and not trust the number stamped on the plate.

The take apart and put it back together can be totally avoided on a factory distributor.

Weld and grind, install tower, use a degree wheel and tape a zip tie to tower to see how far the rotor will twist. Remove tower and adjust as necessary. Double the number you observe to get crank degrees. Fairly simple hillbilly solution. I've used JB wled on the advance slots before.

Using the plate doesn't appear to cure the take apart and put together based upon Demon408's experience. Stuff happens! I do think the plate is a good idea.

Lots of ways to skin a cat.

Have had it for over two years. Have had No issues with coil and box. On my daily driver with Air conditioning, so gets a lot of heat soak after shut down. Do have thermoquad and return style fuel filter. Did have a lot of driving and tuning problems with orange box, not so with the FBO box. The wife even noticed the difference.

Thats good to know.

I agree. i like it a lot. Just wonder how long the slot will hold its shape with a pin banging up against it all the time?

Thanks for responding back.
I need a Rev limiter, and this looked like a nice way to do it.

No complaints with my FBO system. Don is an interesting guy - if you can communicate with him.

I have got the old FBO box and coil on my dart. Never any trouble with it, but coil cracked by the coil wire, don replaced it free of charge because it was within the first year. Been on the car since 2005 or so. Great customer service. Been thinking of going with the new box with rev limiter and be able to get rid of he ballast resistor.

i've heard that one of those newer boxes he sells is only a HEI module inside a fancy box. any truth to this??

If they had a internet ordering sight i would have this distributor Limiter Plate in my hands!

Maybe tomorrow i can get home early enough to call.........maybe Friday.

J685S Limiter discs are MADE IN USA from 100% American Stainless Steel and carry a LIFETIME warrantee on Workmanship... yours or ours whichever is shortest.

^^^^ That's interesting for sure.

Maybe i will get two, and try one out on my sons 73 power wagon. Been promising him that i would do the weld up trick on his..........

Got my parts and off to install the dist limiting plate. for some reason i expected it to be much bigger. (The diameter of like a CD disk!) even though i know my dist. is not that big!:violent1:

It will fit in the palm of my hand. Thinking i may have to pull the dist apart as far as i did to weld it up the first time.......may have to level the welds so the plate will sit flat......I hope i welded the adv side of the slot, not the start side..............

Well i did have the starting ramp of the advance welded up last time. so there was no way i could us the 10* slot as it was all but locked that way. us the 14* slot and got 6 degrees of advance. I may have to turn it to the 18* slot, but will try it as it is. no kick back when let it heat sook. so i will take it back to the track and run some more timing laps. Beginning to think i could have just locked it out.....at-least at 7000 feet elevation, that i live at.

I was able to set timing to 34/40 and still can't get my carb idle down far enough to get much tuning of the idle mixture screws. next step is drilling the carb butterfly before i take it out and test it.

I Like the Advance Limiting Plate, and wasn't to difficult to install.

My MSD distributor is locked out at 35*. I have not had any problems so far. I think I am going to raise it up a degree or 2 next time at the track.

What compression are you running? I'm running over 12.5:1 and a stock starter, though it would struggle a little.
Did a compression test and its only at 180-185 psi.

Mine has 10.9:1 but my cranking cylinder pressure is 195-201 psi. I run on 93 pump gas.
662 hp at 7300 rpm on dyno.

I have two FBO systems. Currently running the latest version in my dart.
