So i replaced the Dynomax Super-turbos out late yesterday for the Dynomax Ultraflows.. All i can say is that.. "Best Dam sounding mufflers on a 340 i ever heard" I have Doug's headers with a 2.5" TTI X-Pipe with full tailpipes, sounds the way a Mopar should, nice and crisp with the right Bass tone to let everybody know whats cook'n under the hood.

I have those same mufflers on my 340 sounds just amazing with headers and a whiplash cam . almost everyone thinks its a 440 everywhere I take it .
 
ultraflows are and sound awesome but they dont like a backfire lol.
 
Nice. I wasconsidering the same muffler swap. How much seat of the pants difference was there if any? Could you tell? How much louder are they inside and outside the car?

Funny because they are louder... But a better lounder, I like the sound and there for my brain tells me i can feel and hear the difference especially with the X-Pipe... You can hear the frequency change around 3000rpm.. Sounds aweseome. I love them.
 
I love the Dynomax Ultra-flo's on my car. :thumbup:

1968 340, .060" over, KB 243 hyper pistons, 2.02/1.60" ported 308 heads with 65cc chambers flowing 264cfm @ .500",~9.8:1, Lunati 60404 cam duration 276/ 284, Lift .513/ .533. Eddy air gap with holley 750 ultra dp, Doug's headers, Summit 2.5" dual exhaust with Dynomax welded Ultra-flo's.

Ditto. Best mufflers out there.

Sound great, low restriction, little/no drone...what's not to love?

Beats me. I don't know how anyone can even drive around with Flowmasters, let alone actually like them. Horrible tinny sound, miserable drone. No thanks.

your the first i ever herd complain about a drone the ultra flos are known to be drone free or almost .

Just 'cause musclecars used to sound like crap with that flowmaster rattle and drone back in the 70's doesn't mean that's what they should sound like.

You got me all wrong, it's the flowmasters that drone. I love my ultra-flo's. They're awesome. No drone at all.

No worries. I should have been more clear that I was talking about the flowmasters droning. :thumbup:

And Tarvin, if you replace those flowmasters with Dynomax ultra-flo's I can promise you'll never want your flowmasters back. Seriously. They're miserable.

Do you have a video of the car running with the super turbos. What is your engine combo, sounds damn good.

Thanks for the complements. The engine is a 69 340 .030 over with KB pistons 69 X-Heads with a LD-340 intake all gasket matched and a minimal blending of the intake and exhaust ports. 750 #3310 with a choke delete. Had the curve in the distributor set on an old "Sun" machine. Camshaft is a Hughes hydraulic grind. 2800 convertor with 3.23:1 suregrip.

I dunno mine are to the back axle and i think it sounds fine in the vid i put up.... ill know in a week how much better or worse when i get the pipe over the axle and out the back. i may look into the ones you are speaking about ...
 
ohhhh i see ... per the dynomax pic of that muffler, they put santa clauses beard in the muffler for a unique sound.... interesting

Sorry, all I can hear in that video is the typical tinny rattle that the Flowmasters always give you. Makes me want to look for exhaust leaks and check the valve lash. Always sounds like somethings broken.

If that's with the pipes ending at the axle you'll probably get a little less rattle with the full pipes, but you'll end up with more drone inside, even though it will probably be a little quieter inside the car.
