Talking Disc BRAKE issuE- loosing pressure BUT WHERE>?

1968 barracuda front disc brake conversion 73+ Abody set up.
power steering
brake booster with DUAL compartments rear drum front disc.

front reservoir loosing oil somewhere, have to refill every 3 weeks/month - traced the line from booster/ reservoir to lines to discs and found no leak....

whats my issue?

bad booster? bad reservoir? :burnout::burnout::burnout::burnout::burnout: :banghead:
 
The front reservoir should be the smaller one and for the rear brakes. Pull the drums & check the wheel cylinders, rear hose, lines etc....
 
Well it doesn't evaporate, so it's leaking somewhere. Perhaps out the piston inside the caliper...making it harder to see? Since you don't see any obvious leaks at any fittings, or your caliper hoses?

a booster doesn't hold fluid...so no
the only place on the res it can leak is out the fittings on the side, or the top cover seal. again it's got to be going somewhere. are you positive the front res is the front brakes?

FRONT RESERVOIR IS Rear drum brakes! of course i'm a moron thanks you.

i will go home and pull the drums and check that thanks! it just started happening two months ago. had to re fill twice now.

should be an easy fix if its just the wheel cylinder.

i will keep you guys in mind if anything comes up.
 
I just recently had this happen to my Dodge truck. I was losing fluid and couldn't find a leak or see any fluid on the firewall, booster or the outside of the master cylinder. It wound up being a small hole in the booster diaphragm, the master was leaking into the booster and the fluid was being sucked into the intake and burned. I installed a new booster and master cylinder, problem solved.

no obvious leaks maybe it is inside, correct. apparently:blob: the front smaller reservoir is for the rear so my mistake i will go home and check rear cylinder. thanks guys.

i will try the rear cylinders first if thats not it i will look into this.
but i hope that this is not my issue. :prayer: thanks

This is only possible if the rear reservoir is losing fluid. :burnout: common.

If you can't find a wheel cylinder leaking (which I think you will), and you have power brakes, pull the master cylinder off off the booster and see if it is wet at the piston.
 
Any one know where I could find those drum cylinder/Pistons?

Part numbers?

The rear reservoir is not loosing oil...

The front one loosing a lot and pedal pressure is very low to floor board makes me think if front discs are even working...

Before dealership service dept' I worked for a tire/auto service center. Looking for tell tale signs on backing plates, inside wheels, streaks on back of tires, became a habit.
Peek under the back of a customers car and say, "you have a wheel cylinder leaking here". And their response was often, "How can you tell ?"

Tell tales for me have been streaks on the inside tire sidewall and smoke when braking. LOL
