TNT'ers think they are racers

One of my favorite times at the track was during a TNT, my car is always run NT clocks off. Ended up paired with a bracket car, big tire, etc race car. I treed him and drilled his *** to the 1/8 then grabbed brakes knowing it's easy to find out what his car runs.

He pitted 2 over from us.... his dad lit into him for getting treed by " a grudge racer dirtbag" If that's the bracket attitude please keep to yourself!
I did offer to run it back if he'd race a dirtbag for some small cash :)

I see you over there. love the sig. lol

Thanks

I'm over there to entertain others and myself :D

Hah nice!

I personally don't think of bracket racers as actual racers...a better description would be "Competitors Of Consistent Kinetics"

Sooner or later everyone either gets treed or trees someone else.......

racing is racing...

****, even I've won a round!

Still uncertain as to the point of this thread.

I wonder if the op runs 9's - 12's with same car. lol brackets can be fun. lol

i love cars. if they gather and i smell tire smoke, race fuel burning. then i am happier than a fat kid at a cake eating convention.

i have a bracket truck and finishing up my heads up 8.5 dart. both have their pros and cons. cost is massive the faster you go. tnt is fine. bracket racers are snooty. if your a new guy or not in their click of car buddies it doesnt matter what you run. be it tnt, heads up or brackets. i however love to drive on the street. just the sheer difference of metal im in vs the cookie cutter prius bullshit i cant stand and they cant stand my plants killer.

I've found that bracket racers are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Years ago I fooled with roundy round dirt track cars, saw more fist fights there than the years I ran the bars.

Being a poor guy that's over 2 hours away from the drag strip. Any trip to the track is a blessing. I've bracket raced and it sucks. Nothing like cutting a good light run on your dial in and lose. You've got the gas to floor when the person that gave you a 3 second lead passes you then let's off so they don't break out. Boring!!!!! I like heads up racing even if I can't afford it. So TnT and track rental days are the best. I just like pounding on my car in a safe place. It's all about having fun with a muscle car.

So to the OP I say if your not racing heads up then your not really racing.

I agree with ya'..seeing these guys that race every week show up at the nostalgia or Mopar events get way out on someone or catch them before the stripe, let off or even worse put the brakes on(which in my book is pure CHEATING)..had one guy running a 10 second car in the 13 second class..just don't get it:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I guess brackets/index racing will dominate if there aren't any true Heads Up classes (with rules) for slower heavier less expensive to build cars, and I mean first to cut the beam wins, the faster you run the better, I can understand why we don't have that here in the UK although we did, but a bit surprised that you guys don't seem to have it either, anything HU seems to be in the 6>7sec zone or in the 4's>3's for 1/8th racing, thats out of your average racers budget. I wonder if there were HU classes like that how many would ditch brackets/index racing for it?......then it would be back to what D-racing is really all about and throttle stops/backing off/leaving after the other car would be a thing of the past, surely most would want to run their cars all out to their max performance in a race where both of you left at the same time and were on a performance par, then it would be down to tuning skills/chassis set up etc., and not money.

IMO the most important thing is that guys are at the track enjoying their cars. No matter if it's heads up, brackets or T&T. My ¢.02.

On Friday night tnt were are tnt ing...I am trying to get the cars to run faster...

on Saturday night bracket race...trying to run consistence....not touching anything unless it needs attention....

and either way...you are at the track racing....

and we all would love to run heads pro stock...but my bank account will not support..

Its all about having fun and I would say anyone that participates in brackets, heads up and tnt are keeping the tracks going instead of closing down.

Looks like the OP stirred up a wasp nest.
I go to TNT and bracket race for fun. Everyone pays the $s to run their car and have the same right to run what you have. I support the track and hope it stays open for a long time to come. Progress is encroaching closer and closer to the track every year and I fear the increased noise bitching from future homeowners is eventually going to doom the track.

Maybe at tnt i,m not showing you what lights i can pull so I can sucker your *** in later!

A time slip from my first T&T. You can see i noted it as my sixth pass (the best one!) Look at that reaction time?!! BEHOLD- my 60 footing !!!! Come get some!!! I'm a (REAL) racer!! LOL
Hey, I had to start somewhere...

it's a good 10 second car ------- in the 8th :happy1:

all theses QUOTES Sum it up well.
BUT i still have to throw out my .02:D

j par that's what racing is all about, having fun, tuning it, hoping, someday, to run as fast as that 12 sec car next to you!
ENJOY THE CAR! It will be the most fun you had.
The 12 sec car just mean you can't race as much:???:...but it's still fun!!!:D

To the OP.
If you look around on these tnt nights you will find a few guy that are in the finals every race night. and that's what most of the rest of us are there trying to achieve.
One last Note. When your test you car or trying to dial it in. There is one thing that will NOT affect you ET or MPH! REACTION TIME!!!! How far you pull into the beam YES! 2 seconds leaving the line(2.033 sec LOL) WILL NOT! On Race Day it will make all the difference in the world!!! :coffee2:

there are a TON of heads up racing classes here in the states. truly honest here since im one of them. testing is needed and changing out parts for more testing to get faster and faster is where the winners take the losers or class fillers as we call them. the pocket books are the seperation nothing else. you just can NOT out spend a rich man willing to blow his load of money for a .001 extra off his best et. he will buy and sell amd rebuy till he is faster than the rest. test test test is the mantra in heads up racing circles. if your not testing your not trying to win. even here we have a stock block class. thwt means you have to have a stock production block from a vehicle to race. all else do what you can with it. including turbo, blower or spray. it is still an extremely fast low 5s high 4s class. there just is no way to slow todays cwrs down. small tires, stock suspension or stock block classes are going to just be badass fast. technology is here to stay and it makes things fast with ease. still money or pocket depth is almost always the winner.

the only thing ive seen compete with a pocket book man is guys who biuld a car together with 2 pockets to better their chances. not exactly my way of doing it but i see this a lot. father/son, father/daughter, best friends, business partners, brothers, cousins, etc... that is how they compete on a big big scale. i am one man with no friends and im on my own. i can only hope my life long experience and knowledge is an advantage for me. sheer determination to beat on my **** till it breaks to win as well. i hate to be the loser and i wont take it well. so i know my drive will be something else. my success in every sport ive ever done in my life tells me ive got a massive advantage most just wont have. so hopefully my pocket books doesnt kill my chances in the end. only time will tell once im out testing and racing this year.

if you cut a good light that is better then the other guys light....and run on your dial in...how do you lose?

Agreed. Bracket racers always seem to be ready to help someone out.

You guys act like I said I didn't like TNT guys or something.
That's not what I said......
I said I didn't like TNT guys who never race that call themselves racers and brag to racers.
You know the type: "I could beat you if I wanted to race, I just don't want to race today".
Completely different. I'm friends with plenty of TNT street car guys.....

No time is my favorite thing to run! Mine is way slow though.

Around here we call that (FAST Eight) they run at least 3.80's in the 18.

But he is talking about setting some rules weight, engine size, etc and then run heads up. When you have limitations costs can be controlled somewhat and the best tuner and driver usually win.

there a ton of limited heads up classes. they still run low 5s or better. cars are just much faster now than they used to be. even if you did an expensive normally aspirated class. which will still be a low 5 sec class. the guy with deeper pockets will build the baddest engine within the rules. other guys just can not compete with pocket books. look at the mopar race with the small tire heads up class. now a guy is building a turbo big hemi and has more money in his engine than i have in my entire car. nobody can compete with that without going broke or majorly in debt. he is not likely a half sec faster than everybody else. money is the determining factor 9 out of 8 times. tuning dont mean much and is just a few hundred bucks and a couple days worth of learning to tune just as the other guys can and do.
