Hello Guys,
I was a B Body guy for years till I got my '69 Dart with a 440magnum, just around 375
Hp as my Bee before was pushing 625 with a six pack.My ? Is has ANYONE SEEN AN
N-96 MOUNTED on a DART??? Can It BE DONE??????
Thanks,
MITCH

Yes, it can be done. We have the scoops in the right place and the 383 air cleaner cut down to clear the hood with the 440. We also have the air box, but have never installed it.

No. There's not enough space betwween the back of the air box and the cowls on the A bodies from the little I know. You can have the scoops, but not the actual air box setup.

Air box WILL fit. I've had it in there, just never got around to making up tabs to mount it to. The clearance issue is at the wiper motor. My son's Dart has a variable speed motor from a '65 Barracuda mounted under the dash...

Thanks Jimmy,
Looks like a factory 6 pack manifold? So do you think the air box would have to be
"Doctored"? Also with that being said, how about the Ramcharger vs open/close scoops?
Thanks for the HELPFULL INFORMATION! Any other pics would be AWSOME! You can also
P.M. Me.
Thanks,
MITCH

Nope, that's a single four setup with the neck shortened to clear the hood. Stock 67-68 intake. The open and close part should not be a problem. It's probably been near 15 years since I had the air box sitting on the air cleaner, but I don't think it will need to be cut. If so, it won't be much.

Sorry, I assumed the question was without modifications. My bad - thanks for addressing Jim!

Here's a few more pics. One of them shows the engine in my old Dart hardtop with the stock wiper motor. There was contact with the air cleaner, but it wasn't bad.

OK!!!! Looks Good JIMMY, I'm gonna give it a shot and put a Six pack set up on her like I had
On my '69 BEE 1350cfm E manifold. When I get this computer figured out Ill post a picture of
My '69 Dart Jet black with White Stripe 440 Magnum/727 W/Shift Kit Hurst His/Hers Shifter!:)
If you have any "SUGGESTIONS" I'm OPEN EARS!!! EVEN for this 57 year old GEAR HEAD,

Hey, I'm nearing 56 so we gotta stick together. It is possible that a stock six pack will be too tall with the air cleaner. I know that a stock 440 single four air cleaner is too tall to fit on a 440 in a Dart. That's why I cut the neck on a 383 air cleaner as they are cheaper and easier to find.

My '69 Dart 440 has a750 cfm Holley on her,I have a 14" x 3" oval air cleaner on Her,She
Has the old style rr type air grabber hood slots on the side that have the 440 Emblems
On it.The air cleaner just fits, that's what got me thinking about the N-96!!!!It would be
"THE SEEDS" to open the hood and see that "OLD SIX" looking at you!!!! I gotta take a
Picture and post it or text it to you! P.M. Me with a cell and I'll send em!!!

Give it a shot when the weather clears!! Hope every one is ENJOYING THE NEW YEAR!!!

Jimmy!!!! SOME PEOPLE HAVE ALL THE LUCK!!!
B.O.W. I picked up a '65 Satellite 383/4 going to the paint shop in April then back together,
But that story is for B Bodi-- !!

That duster looks sweet, but to me it looks like the whole center of the hood was raised about a inch or so.

The hood on the duster has a 70 road runner center and air grabber grafted on .

several years ago I saw a Dart at the Mopar Nats in Ohio. They took a damaged under hood unit and cut it down to fit new holes in a flat hood that were located to fit stock location scoops. It was WAY COOL... I saw a Duster once where they cut new holes in a flat hood and then moved the scoops to match the original spacing for the holes - this was just weird - the scoops didn't look right on the outside and the new holes cut for the new location of the studs in the underhood bracing really cluttered up the inside of the hood. Not my cup of tea.
