I'm thinking of putting a mean looking hood scoop on my Valiant eventually. I was searching around on Google and found a picture of a hood scoop I really like, but I'm unsure of the name of the hood scoop. Looks like the hood scoop they put on the Super Stock Barracudas, but what's the exact name for that hood scoop? I like that one and the 440-6 pack hood scoop as well. I will be getting an all black hood on my white Valiant, so it would go with it. Also, where is the best place to buy that hood scoop from? Any help appreciated, thanks!

Here is the picture off Google of a Valiant like mine with that awesome hood scoop. I'm unsure of the name of the hood scoop.

I believe that's a "hemi" scoop
But I could be wrong

look up "sled city", he has been building fiberglass parts for years. I have used some of his years back on 66-7 belvederes. one will eventually go on a 67 bel1 for me. I like the lower profile scoops personally, jus me, but he makes the max wedge, hemi, 68 ss etc. also fiberglass fenders, hoods.
you might be able to find some feedback on FBBO on his products if you look.

Yep, that's a Hemi scoop. I have a bolt on 6 pack scoop for mine, but I'd love to find a bolt on max wedge scoop instead.

There are quite a few big name fiberglass companies. I'd do a search on here for "fiberglass" and read the reviews.

diymirage was right it is the Hemi scoop, the only drawback I find with those is the visibility issue, for sure I would not have those for that reason as mine is only about 2'' tall. To me those are primarily racing scoops but everybody has different tastes, so suit yourself its your car.

That looks like the one on Tony Field's black Barracuda...

Awesome, thank you everyone for the help! Those Hemi hood scoops look boss and I have always wanted one.

I'm thinking of putting a 6 pak on mine and maybe face it backwards on my fiberglass hood. The valiant hood is a 2 year only hood and hard to come by a good steel one. I supplied the templet to VFN to make 67-8 hoods and it seems to be a success since I have seen quite a few out there now and one is on the MM "Project Valiant".

I just want something to make the car look aggressive. I love the 2-door Valiants since they look sporty and have the 2-door muscle car look. The 4-door look isn't bad looking at all, but it just doesn't look quite as sleek as the 2 door. The hemi hood or the 440 6-pack hood scoop would compliment the car very much.

That to me is a GM thing and do not like the look on a Mopar although some people do. Seems the underhood cooling would be greatly diminished, but I'm no pro.

you use a scoop to cool the underhood area ? has always worked *** backwards for me . fights the incoming air of the radiator. seal it up to your carb. !

Man, that looks real good. Nice car, BTW. Liking these Valiants more & more.

Thanks! That Valiant I posted for this hood scoop thread is not mine- it's just an example of what I want mine to look like. The white 1968 one on my profile is mine. It's my first old Mopar! :D

The under hood clearance becomes an issue when you add taller intakes and the hood hit the air cleaner bolt. I drive my cars all the time and would hate to have water being sucked into my engine bay if I got stuck in the rain soaking my engine bay. VFN was going to make some opening plugs for me if they do the scoop. The backward facing scoop is just a thought so far.

I want the hood scoop EXACTLY like those! I don't like the super big and tall ones where you have trouble seeing out your car, just the average height ones with those 2 or 3 metal looking supports (is that what they are/called?) to "hold it up". So that one fiber glass website has one that's 5 inches high which should be average right? Sorry I'm new to these hood scoops #-o.

Are there any other websites that would have the 1968 Hemi hood scoop with the same prices/quality/look?

Actually the bolts were to hold the scoop down- at speed it would lift up- had one on my 64 Valiant wagon- original 273 4 speed - put a 340 in it- loved the look

That's awesome!! So those little metal things inside the scoop hold it down then? I never knew that actually. So would the Hemi hood scoop automatically come with those metal supports when you buy one?

Go to a hardware store and buy one of those chrome metal lines that go up to the tank on the commode. you can make three out of one pipe. get three long carage head bolts. works great and looks great.
