5.7 with hilborn injection

What ignition, and injectors are you running on this setup? I have my Hilborn on order but only ordered as the intake only. I will be using a stock 5.7 Hemi for now in a Pro street 61 Lancer.

I've seen posts on here about the Hilborn 8 stack EFI on the 5.7 Hemi I have mine on order should be here in the next week or so. MY question is what ignition are you guys running(Holley or Fast) and what size injectors on a stock engine?I was told I can run 36 lb ones. Next question is cams how big can I go without worrying about piston clearance?

Nothing to do with Hemi's, but many, many years ago I built a 454 Chevy with Hiborn Mechanical system running on 100% Methanol and BIG twin turbo's from Mclaren for a local guy for Modified Tractor Pulling class. There were no problems with the engine, but broke a lot of parts in the transmission!!!
What a blast!!!

Lancerman-

I use megasquirt - MS3x.

You cannot go very big on a cam on a factory piston 5.7. 218/224 113+3 is about it. Maybe a tad more, not sure.

You should start a thread with your specific questions - most people don't open old threads when they're bumped to the top. But they will respond to new threads.

Take pictures when you get it in! They're a lot of fun.

thumbs up. Great build. You have to have some ideas to do that. And beeing a bit crazy :)

Listen to this man. He has been helping me non stop since I decided to convert to Gen 3. He has done it and I don't question his answers, but I do make sure I bug on every little thing so I know I am not missing anything.

Ok so I have gone in a different direction. My brother in law had an Enderle injector that was just sitting around so I went with this instead of the stack injectors. Here are some pics and I will download the rest in the next post

the engine is a 2006 5.7 out of a truck. It had 30,000 km we pulled it apart and it all looked new. So all we added was a Hughes cam and lifter package with upgraded valve springs.

A modman intake, enderle injector and alcohol. I use an MSD HEMI6 control box. We have yet to go into the program and play with the timing etc.

Also I had to order smaller nozzles and pills for the system, still fat, as I had 22's in the intake and a 150 pill in the barrel valve and my computech temp probes are only reading 1150 and we can probably go as high as 1350 and still be safe.

That is badass looking. Impressive time slip also considering you still have to fine tune it.

Been a while sorry. Latest update. 10.71 @ 123 mph
but my EGT readings are too high 1413! yikes.

We had a huge temp drop between rounds .

1st time trial I had #20 jets in the injectors with a #95 pill in the barrel valve for return. Ran a respectable 11.16 but EGT was 1430
2nd time trial #20 jets and a 90 pill. Ran 11.05 @ 117mph EGT was 1413 but air temp and altitude was dropping so for the 3rd run we dropped the pill down to 85 trying to get the EGT down. Ran a 10.77 @ 121 mph and EGT were 1415

So first round of eliminations dropped to an 80 pill but the weather was changing so fast that I ran a 10.71 @ 123, as stated earlier in this post.

So after breaking out... I waited for Test and tune time and dropped the pill down to #60 and with the weather stabilizing, the sun came out and we were more normal for weather it ran 11.35 @ 115 mph but the EGT was 1350.

So next weekend I will continue to chase a lower EGT as I don't want to melt my engine down lol.

I see that this is an old thread, and mine is not installed yet, but I have the short stack Hilborn setup on a 433 cubic inch aluminum 3rd gen. I will be using a Motec controller because it works with my 6-speed sequential trans. Cam is a road racing profile designed for a broad torque curve, and dyno numbers are 641 hp, 595 ft-lb. Should be fun in my '65 Barracuda.
