First I'll start with the important stuff for the day the pulled pork sandwiches and my wife's delicious shortbread chocolate dipped cookies and great friends to share the time with all helping each other and having a good time! As you can see our food is so good it defies gravity! LOL

I know I got treed and my 60-foot time wasn't great either but a 11.5 on a 11.49 with a 4 speed ?!?? WHO'S YOUR DADDY ?!!! LOL. that was good times and also my best ET of all time. During the race of course I had a full second jump start and I was in 4th gear hammer down and I kept thinking he should be coming - he should be coming - he should be coming (I hope he's not coming LOL) oh crap! There he is ! LOL my wife said the announcer said that was extremely close race. I was happy to get taken by another Mopar- a 1970 Challenger with a 440 beautiful car shook his hand after the race and thank him. I did not use the two step because I wasn't comfortable with it yet so it was all as I've always done before.
I was experiencing a bit of a bog like almost in the second half of 1st gear which is new but I have been messing with the carburetors trying to lean them out a bit and I probably just have them a little lean? I was able to catch one glimpse of the O2 sensor at the big end of the track and I thought I seen it reading 12.6 towards the finish line of course hammer down.

yes siree, your heading in the right direction, faster.
I'm glad your hard work is showing some gains.

You had fun, and you went a best. Successful day :)

Nicely done man!

I hate to say it cuz I would love to have a 4 speed for street driving and big showy burnouts but you would pick up time with a auto trans...

Its justs money right?

with food like that i bet you are making friends faster than your wife can cook...
Now im hungry, thanks...

;)

Thanks men for the positive feedback. Oh yeah, there was a bad wreck - one of those 8 second rail kind of cars. Hit both walls and car was twisted like a pretzel. Not good. I've am convinced I don't want to go any quicker than 10 seconds. Of course anything could happen at any speed but I'm good.
so first practice pass I run against my friend and do terrible and spin the tires kind of a weird cool morning and the track is a little slick. Then I go three more practice rounds against that challenger and all his reaction times are .0 something and his 1/4 mile times are very tight. As always I'm all over the place. LOL so yours truly was born at night but not last night, I sand bagged back in the pits and didn't follow him back into the into the lane and get lined up next to him again. I Was Taking My Chances next to someone else! As a matter of fact I was last in line well all the sudden I'm coming and I'm by myself and thinking I shouldn't be getting the by? certainly didn't have a good reaction time and there he is waiting for me, I'm like - oh crap! Then I gotta do my burn off and I got so sideways I'm facing him and the car stalls! I'm like - oh crap! this is not good! And then I ran that time slip that I posted good Lord.

I'm jealous ! You may not know this but my first (hobby) love is snowmobiles. It's the ONLY thing we have on credit. Just couldn't resist a couple of new ones this year.

I have a couple of old beater, and it's what gets me thru the winter. Drag Racing is my hobby, and i only get 4 month out of the year to do it. But hey, it's at least getting above freezing now!

Above freezing? It'll be a while before the igloos melt, around here.

jpar, your car is a bit faster than mine, and a lot quicker so, I can feel your excitement from here....I'm not jealous mind you, mine is making me very happy. Ok , I'm a teensy bit jealous. But more, excited for you.
How long was it 'til the high wore off? Til your legs returned to normal? Til your hands stopped shaking? Til you realized you were hungry? Til your wife said "You're getting heavy;get off!" ? Ok don't answer that last one.... :)

Here it's just the opposite I get maybe four months to snowmobile and all spring, summer, and fall to drag race. I just wish my drag car had 160 horsepower for every 500 pounds. LOL those new snowmobiles are Rockets!

Calm down old timer ! LOL Your going to blow a check valve! LMAO I'm already planning on how to get the "honey do's" out of the way so I can get under the car.

I've snowmobiled for years, but sold both of mine w/trailer a few months ago.... I'll get back into it. Just so much on my plate right now, something had to give. And for the few weeks of riding I got, well, seemed the logical thing to do... sell.

Well aside story from Saturday - I see this yellow 72 duster I hadn't seen since the mopar nationals two years ago. I remembered going over to his pit area and you could tell he did a LOT of his own fabrication. I also remember that his social skills where less than desirable. You could tell he'd been drag racing for a lot of years and it's a 4-speed car. Well after I'd been knocked out of the first round I seen him in the t&t lane and asked him if he was going to make the nationals this year? And he grumbled something about payout. LOL So I watch his pass - BIG wheel stand, comes down lightly as he bangs second the front end comes off the ground again, then speed shifts 3rd and 4th. 11.49 @ I think something like 116mph. It sure was fun to watch....

Some people ,"need that zoning the mind\meditation time"... ,for their moment in action. Congratulations, on getting your car to the track, and a great cogbox pass ,without breakages. Nice day,all around,& sweetness applies here...

that's a friend of mine, he has social skills, just you came across as a d---- head. he has to work, and travel time takes up time. most people introduce them selves. you should have looked at his clutch button setup for line lock and two step. his best pass was 11.41 on a cold track, he chipped it down to get it to leave. we refer to that as bracket mode.
also, its a stocker!!!

Sounds like you had a great time and some free chiropractic as well!

Well this very appropriate advice will be pissed away.

Perfacar, if you talk to the "guy" with the 72 Duster, tell him the guy whose intake he machined last fall, a strip dominator, tell him that I will get ahold of him soon. Want to see about doing a Dana. And just generally doing some serious bench racing with him. I haven't seen him since he finished my intake. You can spend 15 minutes with the 72 duster guy and learn more from him then you can in days of searching the web. Think the first time I met 72 duster was in 1981 at Delta Park for the AHRA nationals that year. He is a multi-time national record holder, and an all around super good guy.

He doesn't suffer fools gladly.

I can assure you I was smiling and friendly not pushy. When I looked his car over a couple of years ago it was very inspiring ! His car was overheating at the time in between rounds and I could see he didn't have time to talk and I didn't ask much if anything. I asked one question if he was going to be at the nationals ( thinking my son would be there and I'd love to show them his car and all that he's doing because obviously he knows) please let's not let this thread go sideways that I don't like this guy or something. I didn't mean to sound Negative because sometimes that's all people thrive on. I hope you heard me say that he really left hard and done really well and had a very interesting car I hope that was a little bit louder and clearer than he seemed to come off a little grumpy. He may have been having a bad day we all have them.
