Ok, you guys older than me(44), step up:

Back in the mid-late '70's, what was the most common, popular tach you would see in cars?

What did you see more often..am/fm converters or underdash 8-track players?

Also, if you had to pick ONE vintage sticker from that time period to have, what would it be?

I wanted to add a couple period-correct accessories to my '73 Sport, but it must look authentic and not the "I bought something new that's supposed to look retro" crap.

Thanks.

Probably the Sun Super Tach.

I agree the Sun Super will look period correct. I couldn't afford one back then so I had a RAC Gas Rhonda signature tach in my '69 340 Swinger back then.
For your other questions, I never had - and don't remember any of my friends having - an AM/FM converter back then. FM stations back then didn't play popular music, they played "elevator" music that our parents listened to. All the good rock & roll SoCal stations were AM. It would have to be an underdash 8-track to look right if you're going for period correct.
Stickers? No such thing back then. They were all waterslide decals - try and find any of those today. But as far as subject matter? I had Keith Black Racing Engines, NHRA Div. 7, and a Holley decal on each of my rear quarter windows.

1. Sunpro
2. 8 track with Judas Priest (keep Boston in the glove box for chicks)
3. Hooker, Holley, Blackjack, Cyclone, M&H Race master, Accel, STP, and of course the Edelbrock spider

Agreed, sun super tach.
Just one decal?
I (heart) my hooker headers was my favorite.
Cragar if you were running s/s wheels.
Accel if you were using the yellow wires or super stock coil.
Hurst was another popular one.
I could go on but there were too many.
I still have a good sized collection I saved all these years.

STP, 8 track and CB radio.

And the sun super tach was the one you wanted.

Sun Tachs were the hot item to have in the 60s and 70s. Here are two Sun Tachs I own, both are dated from the late 1960s. One is a ST-602, 8,000 rpm and the other one is a ST-603, 6,000 rpm. They are both free standing tachs that do not need a transmitter. Most Sun Tachs in the day needed a transmitter to work. Both are in excellent working order. I removed the ST-603 from my 1965 Pontiac before I sold it. One of them will be going into my Duster in the near future.

Clay Smith Engineering was right by my house growing up - just off the Fullerton airport
Grave Digger also was right there (or maybe - one of the Grave Diggers? Seems like they ran/run multiple trucks under the name).
Fender was in the area, too (Fender guitars)

Sun tach, Mr. Horsepower sticker, and you have find some Gabriel HiJackers and jack the rear end up a bunch so you can fit big wheels/tires in the back without mini tubbing...

Tach: yea, Sun was the one.
Radio: honestly, I don't remember... :D
Sticker: I remember seeing Holley a lot.

Sun Super Tach
The Craig eight track player ( a lot of areas in the US didn't even have FM stations!)
Any one of these stickers:
Hooker Headers
Cragar Hotpipes
Thrush Mufflers
Holley
Hurst
Crane Cams
Cherry Bomb

If you want a really cool, period correct sticker round up a Ed Hamburger for 340s Only decal

Sun tach like I had in my 1965 Galaxie 500 and the Wylie Coyote decal I had on my 1973 Roadrunner...

I second the dixco tach. Or is that more '70's?

That decal was on my 1970 Duster when I bought it back in 1983! great post! brings back memories. Because I was in second round of the musclecar thing in the eighties (that god i was too young for the boogie van deal!!), I installed a sun super tach II. I found another Tach and for nostalgia, I am going to install it in my current duster project.
