When I purchased my 68 Barracuda 4 speed, the wiring to the trans for the reverse light was missing. My question is this - from the bulkhead to the trans, where is the wiring routed? Does it go along side the speedo cable, or do you route it along the top of the trans? Looks like there may be wire holders on the top of the side cover on the trans. Any help/pics appreciated. In all my years this is the first 4 speed muscle car I've owned.

Thanks FABO

I have a 1967 Barracuda 4-speed car. The wiring for the reverse lights on my car run from the same bulkhead connector that the wipers are on. Standing in front of the car looking at the firewall, it is the farthest one to the left. There are two violet wires that come out of the connector. They run down over the top of the bellhousing (there is a metal clip attached to one of the engine to bellhousing bolts) and fit into three little "clips" that are attached to the transmission side cover bolts. They terminate at the reverse light switch near the bottom rear of the transmission gear case. The connector at the end of the two violet wires has two female spade receptacles that plug into the two male spade lugs on the reverse light switch. I'll see if I can find some pictures tonight.

I went through this just recently but from 4speed to auto. Finally got it figured out. On my diagram for standard trans the wiires are at bulk head at the wiper switch area.I will see if i can scan it and post it for you.....

This what i have, Diagram is for a 67 Dart all i have, hope it helps some what. Good luck, I hate electrical,,,,,,,:violent1:

Thanks to all!

I checked through my service manual and couldn't seem to find a good diagram or pic of the routing. If one is in there, maybe I overlooked or I was looking in wrong section.

Mopardude62 - great description, exact detail I was looking for. My wires at bulkhead are the same, two wires in a plug in connector just off of bulkhead. A pic of trans side cover with three clips would be awesome.

Man I love this site!

Took a lot of research to get to this point. I have three 68's, and they are all different configurations.

318/904 column shift reverse light switch at bottom of steering column.
318/904 floor shift with reverse light switch on console shifter.
383/A833 with reverse light switch on transmission.

So much for consistency from mother Mopar back in the late 60's.

Ya no kidding, now mix n match years and see what happens...."bits n bites"

I hear you there. Thankfully my colour coded diagram shows all three but when your not to bright coming to electrical,,well lets just say i aint to smart..LOL

Wiring diagrams not so bad for me, just takes patience to follow them through with the correct color coding on wires.
But when it comes to physically knowing where the factory mounts the actual switch, relay, sensor, routing of wires, etc.; that's where all the time gets spent browsing through online pics. Especially when what you are looking for isn't on the car because previous owner(s) did incomplete job of restoration.

Hey 68 here's that picture of the wiring on the side of my transmission. I put it on before I put the engine in a couple of years ago then all I had to do was plug in the connectors at the bulkhead.

Hey guys so I'm trying to find the wires that go to the reverse light switch on my four-speed car there's no wire going to the tranny supposedly it's somewhere near the bulkhead? Here's a picture of mine.

Pics of my 68 bulkhead, 4 speed car.
Top two wires on right side of right bulkhead connector as shown in pic.
Wires are only 3"-4" long and go into the connector for wire harness that goes to reverse switch on trans.

did you happen to find a source for the factory type harness? I need to get one.
