Damsel in distress

If you had power for your lights before and don't now you definitely have an electrical problem also. A busted rod won't cause that. Some of the members have good ideas of what to check as far as electrical. There is what is called a fusible link which acts as fuse for your electrical it could have gone.

The oil pan could also be dropped to see if there are any pieces of broken rod or other metal in it, but that doesn't always occur.

All you can do is check things out the best you can. Start with the simple stuff and work your way from there.

Now everyone remain calm....this is the equivalent of being pulled from the passenger list to land the plane because you once sat in a flight simulator for her....lol

Ok regrouping. You have juice but still nothing to starter? No attempt by the motor to turn over using the ignition? I am not sure I read enough to where you were able to cross off all the components that would interfere. Above I see where the NSS was mentioned as another possibility. Anything there?

RRR made some really good points along the way if you were able to turn the crank through 5 resistance points and number six kicked your ***, that may very well be the problem and yes the member who came to your aid may help clarify for the group of air traffic controllers trying to help...lol

The downside. Your motor is not running and is likely going to resist coming back to life.

The upside it is a slant six drivetrain and they are out there, so are machine shops, rods, pistons, crankshafts, and every other kind of part you may need. As a matter of fact I have two, one auto and one 4 speed. I am sure that someone near you has what you need and with beer, and sandwich, and some assistance with gas money would help.
Chin up

Omg.... someone said if it turns it's good and now I'm hearing if it doesn't turn it's bad.... please someone tell me which on is correct.

No that's not what I said. READ and comprehend. I said IF it will turn a FULL 360 degrees with out locking up it will probably not have a thrown rod. YOU came back and said that you CAN turn it SOME but then IT STOPS. Those were your words.

If that is true, then that's a bad sign. You really need to read what people are telling you instead of flying through and picking random things out.

Lol.... I suppose you're right 3/4 isn't all the way.. sorry just frustrated. I know there is something going on electically I will figure that out later... I'm just trying to find out if I need to buy a new motor.
Which is I guess not a clear yes or no at this point.
So just to recap everything that's been done someone from on here who was super nice I might add.... "jumping the starter relay.... molly sounded like she was going to start however made a clank noise and he said I blew a rod.
Battery, alternator and starter relay all have good volt readings.
I am losing sun and patience so think I'm done for the delay

Sounds like something has come apart for sure.

So someone who knows what they are doing from FABO went and looked at it? Where the heck is he on this thread? Let's hear from someone who knows what they are looking at tell us the situation with the engine in question.

If it clanks when the starter turns it over, and it didn;t do that previously, I'd say you have a big problem. With slant sixes being very reasonable and common, I'd plan to replace what you have. Molly's limping heavy...

Easy does it. She is lost and frustrated.

Similar to another female everybody fell head over heels to help and she ended up being a total fraud. Or do you not remember that one? She ended up getting banned.

Is this a stick or automatic? Could be a converter bolt came loose

I seem to remember a picture of a lady standing on the roof of a dart?
that who you had on mind?

I'm not a flipping fraud... and I'm sorry if I sound ******* reatrded. I bought this car for my son 7 years ago thinking it would be fun to learn together. He is now 16 and when I brought it home he didn't want it. Because he's 16 and an idiot. That being said I got out of an extremely abusive relationship several years back and have attempted to learn everything I can including minor repairs on my house, my car and just about anything I can to avoid "needing a man" Not that you all are horrible asshats...
I don't have "friends" to help because I've become a bit of a recuse after he got out of prison in dec.
The guy that helped me on here was steve... he posted on page five about finding me a motor in CL.... I will look up his user name.
Probably more then you asshats want to know but I really need help and again I'm sorry for even asking. For those few that have without rude comments thank you

Nobody has accused you of anything. I am merely pointing out something that happened in the past. A LOT of us had a lot of time in trying to help that young lady and it was all for naught.

So far, all we have tried to do is help and we are asshats. Nobody's called you names. Nobody's used bad language towards you.

Ok that's it for me. I am out.

that who you had on mind?

That was one, but not the one I had in mind. The one I was thinking of was the one who bragged about going bar hopping with her daughter and hitting on mens' wives.

She was certainly here "for somethin else".

oh yeah, I remember her now
she was a hoot

With everyone's BEST INTENTIONS, we have confused the hell out of this lady.

Don't worry about ANYTHING electrical at this point. If the engine is locked up or will only turn part of the way, it's done. The Way Forward is to have that engine pulled out and another used one installed or the blown up one overhauled.

This is what I would do myself at this juncture:

1. I'd find an engine that is running good from a member here that will not try to stick you with an engine which will not work with your transmission. There's nothing rare about it, it just has to be the right range of model years.

2. I'd stick the blown one away somewhere out of the weather, because it may in fact be the original to the car and that's worth saving. There should be a number on it that matches the last several digits of the VIN.

3. Small slapping of hand:

When you get this car going again, and you will, immediately begin the habit of glancing under the front of the car when it's been parked a while to spot puddles. That sending unit, which is just a simple sealed switch that turns the oil pressure warning light on and off, had to be leaking for a while to pump that much oil out.

In addition, raise the hood every day that you drive it, beforehand and look for liquid that is dripping or is being thrown around the engine. Pull that oil stick and check the oil EVERY TIME, pull the radiator cap off COLD, never HOT!!!..and check the coolant as well. These will help avert another disaster.

So let's move on from the helpful suggestions about batteries and wiring etc and help this lady get set up with a good slant to go in her car.

Remember...focus...it's BLOWN UP. NEEDS ANOTHER ENGINE.

Agreed, be gentle with your help guys.
I try to think how this thread would have gone if it was my Tammy
in her place and sadly I don't believe it would of went much if any easier.
You can do this. You have perhaps the easiest car in the world to learn
and work on. And lots of willing help here.

if Tammy is your wife, you may be right
if Tammy is your car, and you posted a picture of your mug on the first post, we would still be on page one

Lol... no more mug shots I promise!!! Thank you again for the encouragement and help... please let me know if anyone has a working motor to purchase preferably near wichita ks... although I'd drive to Canada at the moment.
