Is the PM function gone? I used "start a conversation" and it seemed to work. did it take the place of PM?

Yes it does, However the transmitting time is slow right now. I'm sure it will be fixed.

I was dealing with a member to purchase a part before the changeover using PM but now I can't seem to get there. Any help out there?

Yes, conversations are the new PM...

Sorry, the old PMs are gone....

It was a driveshaft somewhere in Pennsylvania. That's all I got.

Steve, to send a conversation (PM) lol, click on the user name. A box will show up center screen, select "start a conversation".

So if you "Leave" a conversation it is "removed" from your conversation list. I assume this means it is permanently deleted and disappears, if so, how do I back it up before deleting it? With the prior software, I used to use the export as txt or csv option, where or how can I now back up my conversations before deleting (Leaving) them? If I select "mark conversation read" will it no longer be counted as one of my limited 15 allowed conversation?

I don't believe that is an option.

Not read. This is what happens when you leave a conversation. If you just mark it read its still counted as one of the 15

When you select "Leave conversation", a pop up come up to confirm if you want to proceed, and that pop up displays the following warning, "Leaving a conversation will remove it from your conversation list." This is why I ask if this means the conversation is permanently deleted and disappears.

If this is the case, my following question is, how do do we back up our conversations if we want to save them before deleting them from the forum (Selecting Leave conversation). The prior software format, used to allow us to save our PM's by exporting them in either txt or csv format.

So my question is, how do we export/backup our conversations in this new software interface?

Its deleted as far as your concerned. The other person still has it until they leave the conversation also. Then its fully deleted from the system.

Currently, I don't know that you can.

Ugh. I hope this is way better for the admins and/or servers or something, because this is not better from the user perspective.

It really is if you think about it. Look, you have the whole conversation above. If you need to recall something that was said before, you don't have to go searching through all the past pms

That's a fair point. I'll spend some more time with it and see if it gets less annoying.

Trust me Dan. I know it seems like a lot, but every other forumI have converted I had people who complained only to come back a week or two later and tell me now they are used to it and its a big improvement

I think the new "Conversation" or "PM" feature is great. Kind of reminds me of a text message that just keeps going & going :D
