I am getting ready to order seatbelts for my 67 notchback. When i bought the car it was a semi basketcase and was missing the front and rear seats along with the seatbelts. It was a bench seat car, and will be buckets now.

I have several questions. I can get the repop lap belts from yearone. Did this car have seating for 3 in the back seat, or did it just come with 2 lap belts in the back. Also the price for the repop belts is pretty high. Is there someone else who makes the same exact repop ones that year one sells only cheaper. They got to be getting them from somewhere.

Also since i am missing the seat belts, i am also missing the bolts. Does anybody have spares of these they would be willing to part with?

My 1971 dart had seat belts for 3 in the front and 3 in the back if that helps?
 
Thank you for the reply, however dodges were always a higher trim level car than a plymouth. I would expect darts to have 3 in the front, 3 in the back. Plymouths were always billed as price leaders. It wouldent surprise me in the least if 2 rear belts were standard, and a 3rd belt in the back was optional. I would love for a cuda owner to chime in and verify for me before i buy a set of belts and have to end up buying a 3rd rear lap belt and pay a second set of shipping charges.
 
i just learned of the 3 in the back a few days ago when i pulled the rear seat. someone had cut the rear middle belts out long ago but left them bolted in. pull the rear seat and check for the bolts?
 
As stated in my original post, when I got the car and it had no seats front or rear, and no seatbelts or bolts. The only thing there were the mounting plates. 4 of these in the back, 4 in the front.

but you have plates welded in and not bolt holes?

Not sure what level of resto your looking for but if your changing to buckets just add the number of belts you want? You have already changed the seating arrangement?
 
Yes the reinforcement plates have threaded holes. It was originally set up as a bench seat in front too. Because the bucket seat holes were stamped with dimples but not opened up, and no bucket seat reinforcements were welded in. I know with bucket seats theres only 2 in the front. Just wondering if the rear was 2 or 3.
 
Finally found my answer on google search. 5 passenger, optional 6 passenger if equipped with front bench seat.

However, the car came with seat belts from the factory it is a 1967. Lap belts became mandatory equipment in 1966. Shoulder belts in 1968, and i believe headrests in 1969 or 1970 per DOT regs. So yes it has threaded reinforcing plates for belts. Car was a basket case when i got it with lots of missing parts. I think they were gutting the interior to start making a dirt track car out of it. Only thing left inside it was the dash, door panels, steering column, and pedals.

Shoulder belts were an option in 68. Mandatory in 69. They started putting the shoulder belts in late 68.
 
Interesting on that. I have a brochure for the 68 charger that shows the shoulder belts but makes no mention of them being optional equipment. Additionally the 1968 dodge charger owners manual touts the cars safety standard features including the shoulder belts. I also owned a 68 barracuda fast back years ago that had them.

In addition the NTSB in 1967 signed into law federal motor vehicle safety standard 208 requiring all new motor vehicles manufactured from 1/1/68 onward to have shoulder restraints for the outboard front seat occupants. This makes them mandatory.

Interestingly however i bet convertibles were exempt from this because of anchoring point issues, and light trucks were exempt until a later date. I owned a 1971 chevy C/10 pickup that had provisions welded in the cab for a shoulder belt anchor point, but was only equipped with lap belts. This anchor point was covered with a removable plastic plug, that was obviously painted with the cab during production. The possibility of FMVSS #208 being applied to light duty trucks as early as 1971 may have been a possibility and may have been why chevrolet did that as a way to be ready for compliance.

Snake Oyl makes and sells repo seat belts and buckles! That's orobably where year one gets them!!
 
Just checked ssnake oyl out. If i had the originals , getting em rebuilt would be a costly option. They have new belts, and the retractors and buckles are exactly the same as the ones sold by seatbelt planet. However they charge much more than seat belt planet, as thats prob where they get them from. And the seatbelt planet retractor requires it to be straight up because it probably has a locking pendulum inside the retractor mechanism. This wont work with my seats and mounting location.

The year one 67 belts look to be an exact or extremely close copy of the original factory 67 pontnier model belts down to the chrome buckle, and angled retractor. If course with discount and shipping its still gonna be $250. Rear belts at $25 each get the 30% off, front bucket seat pair is $175 no discount. The 30% gives me one rear lap belt free, and $25 shipping. I'm sure a box full of sear belts and retractors is pretty heavy. So this is the route i will probably be going.
