Joey, I thought you said with this new software, you were going to have a way to stop the bombardment of for sale ads?

When will it happen? It's gettin pretty annoying.

Ever since the new site came out, I thought I noticed a lot more "for sale" ads also. I didn't think it was my imagination.

I haven't got there yet. That aside --- I don't think it will change much. People like to post stuff for sale, and others like to buy.

What Joey said. This is a forum for all types of people. Talkers, bench racers, builders, buyers, sellers, trouble shooters, ignorant first timers, and yes, trolls. So why discriminate?

That item for sale may be what you need, and this site may be the only place to find it.

Agree!

Couldn't have said it better myself some of these parts are getting almost impossible to find. Just weed through what you don't want to look at.

In other words, suck it up buttercup. :D
They annoy me a bit also, but probably only because I don't need any of them as mentioned.
At least we don't have to click and open them to find out they are a for sale ad.

On a side note- I wish we could go back to displaying a location in the signature.

If we can Ignore specific members, is it possible to Ignore entire subforums too??
It's the "carpet bombing" of continuous ads from a few members that seem to go on for pages on end that I find tedious, but that's just my opinion.

Just scroll on by till you see something you like. Just like every other website on the entire internet.

Lets not let the chance to find that diamond get away. I just found a very rare part on here a month ago. I had been looking for 5 years for that part on my own.
Someone listed lots of parts for sale, and someone else noticed they were parting out a whole car and let me know. That led me to the person parting the car out, and I scored! I'm happy! I can deal with 100's of for sale adds, knowing that what I need may be in one of them.

Nobody said a thing about discriminating. Nobody......but you. Joey said long ago that there would be a feature that would allow Gold Members to not see the for sale ads. That's what I was asking about. Know what you're talking about before putting words in someone's mouth, ok?

I thought he meant Gold Members wouldn't see the pop up ads, or the ones in between posts.

Right. That's what I am talking about. For instance, when you search "new posts" or "recent posts" Gold members would have the option not to see the for sale ads. At least that's how I understood it. I am not talking about taking anything away from anybody. How stupid would that be?

Personally, I don't think for sale ads should appear in the "new posts" list at all. When I want to look for stuff,..........and I do..........I go to ebay, CL, or the "for sale" ads. One here. And other places.

"Carpet bombing" is a great description. Last couple of days hitting the "new posts" button results in more than 1/2 page of "for sale" ads that you must scroll through, page after page.

"What I see" just now.......

Thanks Del. As usual, you get the point right on across.

"Whats the matter?" You suffering from scroll finger?" "You may be entitled to a large cash settlement!" "Call Dowee ,Cheatum and How". "Don't delay, your time may be limited."

I was speaking in general so why don't you do the same.

My vote is for a totally separate forum for the stuff for sale, and another for the wanted ads.
Would be easier than pretty much anything else, and that ability is already in the forum software.

If I have something for sale it goes in the "Parts for sale" section, and obviously if I was wanting something I could put a want ad in the "Parts Wanted" section.
Oh, and obviously not shown be default in the new posts or main page of course.
There could even be sub sections for different types of parts.
Engines, Transmissions, Body, Interior, Other.

Maybe you mean location in the avatar? It's displayed now--Yours shows Texas. If you're viewing on a phone, try turning your phone sideways/horizontal. It should show up....
