I was out at Mo-Kan Dragway at the Hot Rod reunion yesterday running in the Super Modified class. Later on in the day had a couple guys come over and talked about the car, what the paint was, engine, etc. One guy had a '69 Dart himself, but they were both sort of perplexed at the fact the engine was a 340/417 stroker. I explained it about 3 times on why it was that way. Bigger crank, different rods and pistons, pistons move further in the cylinder which creates more cubic inches of volume. Simple right? The Dart guy's buddy then asks "So since it's bigger now, you can put big block heads on it right?"

:wtf::rofl:

So which set of big block heads are you gettin? Lol

I was thinking a set of 426 Hemi heads would fit just right. Will look like a fat girl in yoga pants. #muffintop

I just want to know, what your response was.

I wasn't witty enough to come up with a smart *** answer but was polite and replied "No I can't do that because it's still a 340 block. The block hasn't changed from stroking it."

Someone a lot smarter than I am once told me that everyone is an idiot - just in different subjects...
I hate to think how many dumb *** computer questions I have asked geeks over the years!

don't be too hard on them.
.a lot of guys love their cars but don't know a lot about them and would also rather get someone
else to repair or modify them,and that's o.k.

Actually, yes. With a couple modifications and some notching/clearancing at the deck for the pushrods to clear, you can put 1st Gen Hemi Heads on an LA block
That is very cool.
What choices then are available for intakes on such a combo?

A long time ago I wished there were a way to put hemi heads on a low deck big block.

Ah yes I do recall reading about this mod a couple years ago now that you mention it.

My buddy had a Volare we took it up to the parts store and when we got out two guys were in the parking lot, one of them said that's a sweet nova, does it got a 350 in it. My buddy just said yupp.

No notching needed when used on the 318 "wide block", it's already clearanced for the layed over pushrods.
