65 Valiant Convertible

-
Well....I had a few different people refer me to the same person to get my top installed so it sounds like this guy does good work. The problem is he can't fit me in until the first week of October

Nice job. I'm doing a 65 Dart vert, hopes it comes out looking that sharp.

Did a little more work this weekend. Cleaned up and reinstalled the inner door emblems and started installing the trim for the convertie top boot

Question...I am looking for the header weatherstrip retainer that attaches underneath the header bow....anyone know where I can get one...mine is all rusted out

Here is a pic of what I am looking for

Update...after waiting since August I dropped my car off to have the top installed this week. Can't wait to get her back and not be so paranoid about rain every time I take her out!

I'm picking her up this afternoon, it will be the first time my vert has had a top since the late 70's, can't wait!

I took her out on the highway today and got her up to speed on a great fall day, it was nice to have that top, really comfortable ride!

Glad to see you're enjoying your sharp ride. Looks much better in the fresh air than in the garage.

You know the cool thing is not only do you get to enjoy the car but others do to just seeing you drive by. Kinda like a 1 car parade.

I must have been a good boy this year because Santa brought me new taillight assemblies from Laysons...lol Can't wait to see how they look!

Great project just found it and have gone through the whole thing. I have a question, where did you get the quarter patch panels, if Laysons how were they to deal with? I have a '65 V100 2 dr post Factory hi-po 273, 4 speed car. Second owner and have owned it since 1971. It is in need of a restoration and I hope to start on it after I get my '62 2 dr post Valiant done. Hope to stay in touch. Beautiful car and beautiful job!!!!!!! Kevan in Ohio

Thanks, I got the rear quarter patch panels from Layson’s and the wheel well patch from classic industries. The quality was the same for both, both were good to deal with. I think classic industries shipping might have been a little less.

Figured I should add to my build thread even though I have been posting to other threads. I converted my points to electronic ignition today. What a difference...I have had lots of problems with hesitation when I accelerate and now that's all gone. I have to say thanks to 1969383S for all his help, because it has made a huge difference in my vert! I installed the Petronix Ignitor II and Flamethrower II coil...easy to install and what a better ride....really looking forward to venturing out there this year!
