Got it figured out, I think.. One place wanted $45.00 for one, the rest were $20.00 ea. plus shipping, takes a lot of fun out of old car stuff....Cut mine out of a plastic pail. I didn't even know that you can buy them.
Is this for an automatic console 67-76 car?
A buddy made one from plastic he bought at a supply store.
I cut my own and a few for others from a sheet of material that came in a old Mainstay brand cd binder. The very light grain looks better than OEM slick and glossy material in my opinion.
A correct reproduction is a special material. For the life of me I can't remember what that stuff is called ( and I CNC machined a mile of it ). Anyway... Correct would have the little rib formed on both edges. Makes it better but much more expensive to produce too.
Others have cut the thing from a antifreeze jug, so whatever is handy I suppose. Incase you don't have the original, The only tip to know is the hole where shifter tube goes through is oval. CheersThanks, my wife gave me an old 3 ring paper binder, with a thin plastic cover, pretty close, I will give it a try...
