Hey folks. This is gonna be another episode of what will it run.

Honestly I'm curious about your opinions on a potential combination.
1973 Dodge Dart Swinger - 3300lbs? (just a guess haven't weighed it yet) - subframe connectors will also be added.
Engine -
360 - 4.060 bore (maybe - still waiting for the machine shop)
-3.58 stock crank
-stock rods
-Speedpro H116cp pistons w/ thin head gasket (maybe). Calculators show 10.2:1 with thin gaskets
-Speedmaster heads (yes they will be checked first and probably cleaned up)
-65cc chambers, 2.02/1.60 valves
- 1.5 SS roller tip rockers
-Mopar .557 solid cam 252/252 @ .050
- Air gap intake manifold will be port matched to the heads when it's all said and done
-Carb at the moment it is a Demon 650?625? VS carb. Also have a 750 edelbrock.
904 Transmission
-TF-2 kit
- 3500-3800 stall
Rear end
8 3/4 rear bbp dr. diff axles and housing, rear disc brakes
-489 case, gear ratio is still up in the air but was leaning in the 4.10 area
-Super Stock springs w/ Comp Engineering shocks, both springs are driver side (the lean would drive me nuts)
- 245/60/15 rears, might be able to fit 255's

I want to know what you think this combination would run in the 1/4, or if there's anything that would stand out as a huge problem. Yanked the engine because it was giving me fits and found a few issues, so now it's being rebuilt. Let 'er rip tater chip.

Carb is temporary since it's what I have at the moment. I was contemplating a holley sniper efi. Maybe a set of slicks for the track.

High 12s, I think it will weigh more than 3300.

Quite possibly. The car doesn't have much of an interior and a fuel cell is going in in the next few days while I wait for word on the block. It was really just a happy guess. Almost forgot the fiberglass hood.

Isn't not off setting the springs missing the point ?
anyway - high12's - low 13's

Yeah but easy relatively easy to remedy if I ever find it to be a major problem. Ss springs were mainly to replace the worn out Junkers that I had. Before I pulled the engine it seemed to launch ok, although it may not have much merit as it was only on empty streets that I would test a launch and the nearest drag strip is about 80miles away.

My all steel 73 dart swinger with a aluminum headed 440 weighed 3520 with me in it

Total smoke show with street tires. Good thing I live down the street from summit racing
Slicks are easy to get.

I'm gonna guess high 12.3's to low 12.4's with a dp carb, 12.5 to 12.6 with the carbs listed.

I ran a best of 7.10 in the 1/8 (around 11.18 1/4 says Wallace calculators) in my Demon all steel with glass hood and bumpers. Full stock interior bench seat. With a 360 , .557 solid cam and ported 915 stock heads, 727,
Demon 2 001.jpg
8in. PTC convertor, stock a-body 8 3/4 with 4.86 gears. 750 carb and Strip Dominator intake. Driven to the track.

if it hooks, my guess is 12.0s. my 340 with the 557 cam ran 12.10s and my 360 with the h116 pistons ran 11.80s. true street car driven to the track. you will find there is a lot of power to be found through fine-tuning.

I made 365 on track hp with my 3500lb+ race weight s/strip '71 340 cuda
Stock 10.1 Motor, unported 2.02 heads+ .590 purple solid
HSD int., 850DP, (lost 2/10ths with a 750)..4.30's, 4200 verter, 10x28 G/years = 12.39@108 best.
You should make 400hp quite easy with that combo with an 850DP, so in 3300lbs and a good hook I would say once dialed a bit
11.8's>9's@113, forget the 650 or 750 Eddy carb and just go to the top of the class with an 850. bit more gear would help.
my 2C's.

I don't plan on keeping those carbs, I just have them already from previous engines/cars. I am still tossing around the idea of a holley sniper/ fitech kit. But to be honest i'm not really sold on going injection yet. I just like carb's. I was also thinking about 4.30's.. But my converter will probably only be around 3600-3800rpm.

going from 4.56 to 4.10 gears didnt hurt anything much for me at the track. a well calibrated carb should run as good as fuel injection at a fraction of the cost. if i were you, i would go for a 750 double pumper. make it work good on your primaries on the street (jetting, power valve and accelerator pump) then tune the secondaries at the track. for your converter, 3500-3800 will be enough. one thing i learned with the 557 cam is that it likes a lot of initial advance (timing). a locked distributor (no vacuum and no mechanical advance) should work at that level. i just loved the rumble of this cam!

I have an MSD distributor that is not vacuum so that should be no problem.

A convertor that flashes more will be quicker at the track. And if you already have a convertor the lower you gear the car the less it will foot brake stall. That has ALWAYS been the case for me.

RANT ON! :mob:
The reason SS Spring are the great SET UP and have been around 4 EVER has everything to do with the perked *** end and more importantly the stiffer more arched right spring.

If you're going to us two left SS spring......My et predictions would have to be much closer to RRR's them most that have posted up.
If you can't stand the look of a SS Spring why waste the money. Buy the MP HD springs for it and call it a day! RANT OFF
