Hey what changes do I need to make to the 72 duster I have to install a 426 hemi and manual trans? it is a factory four speed car. has a direct connection k frame in it for a 440. manual steering and brakes. Thanks

Is it a Gen 2 hemi? You need motor mounts, a hemi starter cable from battery to starter, bracket to accept throttle cable. I did this swap in 71 cuda, but used a hemi kframe. I went from a 440 to hemi. After I had k frame in, before the motor I thought it was down hill till I went to next step and had to order more parts. Flywheel is 8 bolt on hemi. You have to get Schumacher mounts for hemi, when I did mine he didn't make the mounts so I had to go with the hemi kframe. Exhaust may also be a problem, I went with the cast iron manifolds, because I had a bad experience with headers on the 440 that wrapped around the torsion bars. I had ex manifold jet coated and after 15 years still look great. Good luck with the conversion. You won't be sorry. Sure fills up the engine compartment.

thank you for the help. I was looking at the four link kit at bbd.com and the new k frame and suspension kit from rielley motorsports. any thoughts.

When I did my conversion none of this stuff was available, so I did it the old fashion way with the hemi k frame. I asked schumacher if he made mounts to adapt from B to hemi and he said he couldn't afford to buy a hemi to get the mounts made up. This was back in 2002 when hemi's were first made as a crate motor. Since not many were available locally I bought it from Monicatti Chrysler in Mich. and drove from N.Y., 750 miles, to get it. We had many problems when they first came out, but the dealer went out of his way to keep me happy. I really don't have an opinion on the this new stuff, although I did QA-1 upper and lower control arms. It was a real learning experience doing the conversion and I found out why they call them elephant motors.

Why don't you just get an AlterKation from Reilley's Motor Sports for the HEMI?? It clears up a lot of space and gets rid of the torsion bars.
I purchased a "B" body one, just haven't put it in yet.

I kinda figured it was big block dart ...But what 4 link are you referring to?

I know control freaks and martz for parralel 4 links, but no others.
