I bought the mbm kit
to keep the 4 inch bolt pattern.
but this will not fit 14 inch rims any off them
any idea what I could do

I just got some Steelies with SBP. Gonna run a dog dish. Summit, was Coker or wheel vintiques. The Kelsey hayes 10 in setups take 14s.
 
we had an issue with ssbc kit and 14'' steel rims for the 4'' bp . but we got a 14'' mag to work . still must place the weights in the right place . i've got another set of the rims .

I too am considering a disk brake upgrade with a SBP to 14" stock wheels, so I'm watching replies. I've heard of this issue before. Some companies have published a section drawing with dimensions so you can have an idea if it will fit. That's pretty good.

People tell me that I'm full of s............uggestions, so this is what I think should be done. You pay shipping + a $25 deposit, and the brake manufacturer sends you an accurate plastic mockup of their rotor, hub and caliper. It arrives in 3 days and you can see if your wheels will fit with their brakes. You send it back and they refund your deposit. This very simple "fit" test takes very little time, but it could save a lot of "hard feelings."

I put everything togather before I put it on the car . And caliper hits rim
if I put a 1/4 inch spacer it does not rub
these rims are 14x4 1/2 with 3 1/2 inch backspace. I really like the body coloured steel wheels .
just need some in site on what to do .

That MBM kit is pretty much just a 73+ A-body disk kit. Looks like they machined down the center register and are buying blank rotors to add the 5x4" pattern to. Might be wrong about how they're doing the rotors, but, those are definitely 73+ spindles, calipers, and caliper brackets. That's why they include an adaptor kit for the spindles, they're for large ball joint UCA's so they include a set of tapered sleeves like the one's Dr. Diff sells.

All the challenges of using the 73+ disks on a SBP car without the benefits of actually converting to BBP. You still have to deal with the wider track width, you still get tapered sleeves to use the spindles with the SBJ UCA's (or you could get the later BBJ UCA's), and as an added bonus most of the SBP wheels won't fit because of register or backspace issues. At least if you went BBP then stock 14" BBP wheels would fit. Did you have 10" drums originally? Because it says right in their instructions the kit won't work if you didn't have 10" drums up front.

Seems like all the SBP disk conversion kits out there are a problem. The Wilwood's have an excessively large register and won't work with stock SBP wheels, the SSBC kits seem to have several threads going on issues, and the MBM kit is really just a 73+ BBP disk set up with redrilled rotors. Good grief.

The 9-10 drum doesn't matter because all thats being changed they are referring to 13 inch rims 9 inch brakes but yes lets make a kit that works not 1/2 assed I am going to try a rally rim or a spacer I am just test fitting at this time cars not tore down we will see

Sure about that? Because they never even mention 13" rims as an option with this kit, so, it would be easier just to say they only fit 14" rims. Except as you've shown they don't fit all 14" rims.

Pretty much all of the kits are BBP kits that either have been drilled for 5x4" or a dual pattern. Most of them have the wrong wheel stud diameter too (1/2" instead of 7/16"). That has to be an economic decision, I'd bet there just isn't enough demand to justify a true SBP disk kit that would only work on SBP A-bodies. People that want stock won't convert to it anyway, and most folks that are willing to modify the car will just upgrade to BBP anyway. Doesn't leave a whole lot of demand.
 
Dr. Diff sells a disk brake kit that accommodates the 14" steel wheels and I would put money on it that you could ask him to drill the rotors for sbp.

If that won't work, Scarebird sells a disk brake caliper adapters that work with the drum spindles. You can either buy their entire kit or just the brackets and source the calipers, rotors, etc yourself. AND! Their kit works with 14" ralleye wheels. I have this kit on my Dart right now. If you go this route, be careful, because they sell kits and brackets for 9" & 10" drum setups.

More wheel choices, no worries about finding a set of rotors later if you need them, no worries about whether or not they'll be making the SBP rear drum stuff when you need it, etc.

i have a set already i just really liked steel wheels painted body color
 
Any updates on this? Really wanted to get a kit, but now am worried since my 69 dart has 14" Crager SS rims, some say the MBM kit may still work, but the calipers have to be shaved down a hair
 
i've been restoring the 65-72 a body k/h disc set ups , they work with the small centered rims with no issues . i'm using stock type steels and vintage 14'' americans , us indy's on them , again no issues . i may have an extra setup .
 
Can you strategically grind the calipers down to fit? Might not require a full 1/4" if you take if off the corner. Scarebird's kit requires such grinding. I did that on my 2002 T&C minivan after I ran into a problem trying to install the mini-spare after an interstate blow-out. The spare was binding on the caliper just slightly. I ended up having to move a full-size wheel from the rear and put the spare on the rear. Got out the grinder when I got home and "fixed 'er". I later found on the web that my AWD van was supposed to have a full-size spare (since rectified). The dealer had added the spare, because the van probably was a former rental (many remove the spare). It is almost like someone is trying to frustrate us.
 
My understanding is scarebirds kit is alreay ground down. From talking with the guys at stainless steel there kit is the only one that will work with 14" cragers ss as long as they are 14 x 7.
 
this is probably too late to the discussion, but for others thinking of a brake swap. I put '73 a-body BBP disks on my '66 Cuda, and I went with Mustang? painted 14" Magnums. They're different and look good, too. I did this like 25 years ago, so memory is a little fuzzy. I can't remember if there was an issue with the hub, or not, but it wasn't a big deal or I'd remember that.
