Hello all. How does the hood pop up spring attach? Does the lower piece of the spring go through the hood support? Does anyone have a picture of the bottom of the hood support?

Thanks!

My 69 has a hole in the center of the hump on the lower side of you first pic that the prong in the spring fits it. Your's seems to have been filled in.

Is there a tab sticking straight up toward the camera on the inboard hole?
If so, the little rod sticking out the side of the spring goes in one hole and that tab gets bent down over the bottom coil on the spring.

It does not look like there is a tab at all. Are you are saying that the spring sits on the support and the last coil sits inside that hole? I am not seeing how that works. The car in question is a 70 Dart. Here is a more detailed pic.

Hm, that's strange.
I have seen them that the spring screws into those to holes but the holes were offset vertically to allow it. (which that spring can't do anyway with that end sticking out like that)
Also ones that have a hold down bracket, but yours doesn't have the bolt hole for a bracket.
Could it have been filled like was mentioned?

Stick with me for a few if you can and I'm going to research that.

Yep, here it is.
Yours is missing the tab on both holes.
The one that leg on the spring goes through, and the one that bends over the bottom coil and holds it there.
The two raised area keep it from moving sideways and coming out from under the bent over tab.

Maybe mount it with brake line tubing clamps if that's ok.
One on each hole in your support and you could even put the attaching screws/bolts on the inside of the spring.

I wonder what happened to the tab. Those clips should work. Where did you snag that pic?

Those specific ones are from Summit Racing, but I just used that pic as an example.

40 bucks is a little steep for the set just to use on that spring.
It was the idea I was after.
They are actually at Autozone and others as well.
