Changed ring and pinion and wheel and tires on my 64 Valiant 273 push button auto and need a 19 tooth speedometer drive gear. The original gear is a 17 tooth with markings D-17-T.

According to my 64 parts book, an automatic trans 19 tooth gear is part number 2204358.

Here is a reprint concerning speedometer gears from an article I wrote a few years back:

For the 4 speed transmission and 3:23 rear, my parts book listed part number 2204360 for a gear with 21 teeth. After several failed attempts to locate an NOS or good used one via my usual internet and other source sites, I began to worry about finding one. (note: in 1966 Chrysler changed the speedometer gear to a different design and some of these gears are reproduced, but alas not 1965 and prior)

Northwest Transmission Parts in Winchester, OH (937-442-2811) can cut new nylon gears to order. I gave them the application and factory part number and they said, “No problem, we can do it”. Northwest also had the o-ring and small seal that fits the inside the housing. Price for the gear, seal, o-ring and shipping was about $65.00.

One glitch- Northwest reproduced a beautiful gear, unfortunately they reversed the gear angles. When I called to report the problem, they were very accommodating and ask me to return the gear and a new one would be cut. For good measure, I sent my old gear as a sample and a new correct gear was returned which fits prefect.

Problem solved (note: allow 3-5 weeks to get a new gear cut)

$35.00 plus the ride.

Paypal, I've never shipped anything out of the US before...is there a zip code where you live and what is you exact shipping address.

$35.00 is in US dollars.....lol. I'll take it up to post Office at lunch and see. PayPal as a gift...cheaper on both of us.

It looks like $45.50 and about 2 weeks they said....does this sound right.....again never sent anything out of the states before.

If I understand $35 US for the part and $45.50 US for shipping, the shipping charge seems high. I paid $42 shipping through International Priority Shipping for the ring and pinion set I installed coming from Ohio. Based on other small items I have purchased through ebay, I would have expected about $15 shipping.

I'm not sure how to do that? Never done that or have I asked for one.
If you want to do this as a transaction....you'll need to add the 3% on to that or what ever it is they want for that. What's you email address or messenger with it.

Mine is moparlee@live.com
