My power steering box is leaking....everywhere. So I decided to order a new one from Rock Auto. The box arrived today, but it's way smaller than the power steering box that's in the car.

Anyone aware of a smaller power steering box? Will it fit in place of the larger box? I sure hope I don't have to send it back for credit.

Almost forgot.... car in question is a 1974 Valiant Brougham, V8 (if that matters).

Was that one of the Cardone boxes, I have one on order from summit been waiting almost 6 weeks, its on back order, dont hear very good things about Cardone, was thinking of doing it myself but I dont want to get into something I may not be able to finish. So I'll spin the wheel and see what happens.

The only smaller power steering gear I am aware of is aftermarket, Borgenson or something like that.
As far as I know, all OEM are the same size.

Hey all...figure I should update this post. Basically, I had a brain fart, with the stove on my right intake manifold a contributor. The steering box I got from Rock Auto, a Cardone rebuilt was a perfect fit.

Thanks all for the input on this unnecessary wild goose chase.

I for one will tell you why. I bought one from firm feel. And there is nothing firm feeling about it!

Roy, would firm feel not take it back and fix it? Or didn't you pursue that? Honestly curious as I have heard good things about the boxes, customer service and I was planning on using one!

thanks,

CE

Maybe they are much better now? I don't know. I bought the one in my Dart over 10 years ago. It didn't leak and worked, I just couldn't tell one bit of difference between a bone stock one and one of theirs? Still has that way to easy steering feel to it.

Any they have different levels you can go with. Hands down the best mod per $ spent

I don't have experience with the Firm Feel box, but I have a Borgeson soon to arrive today so I'm hoping that will be the "Hands down best mode $ spent". Plan to install it 4th of July weekend.
