My pops has been trying to buy this car for years. He would stop by the house and ask the fella to sell it and his reply was always no. Well this time the guy said yes.

It is supposed to be a factory race car but we're not sure. It has lexan windows, no bumpers or tail lights. The trunk lid is just a floppy skin. The doors are just skin. The PO says it's an acid dipped body.

We're pretty sure it was a 426 car but there's no engine in the car.

Sorry for the bad pic but this is all I got till we pick up the car after work tomorrow.

If anyone has any info on the car or what we should look at let me know and I'll post more pics when we pick up the car.

Our plan is to just wash the car and put it back like it would have been in the 60s.
The body is crazy straight and the paint under the mold looks good.

Post the vin. There is a list of all the pre 67 race cars by vin.

It's in the Darryl Davis books. You can buy them at Mancini.

Plan #1, mechanical injection 426....

Plan #2, a cheep 440, probably gonna go with plan #2...
We got a line on a 426 but it's gonna come down to cost. We got four cars that need to get done before this one. Not to mention we have nowhere to keep it but pops has wanted it for a long time and he's over the moon to finally have it. He's a huge fan of vintage race cars and this one has been bothering him for a long time.
The plan is to wash it, slap some mate clear on, throw in a dodge van seat and a single hoop roll bar then take it to Eagle field.

So it's not a factory car, the PO was full of **** but it is a old race car and that's what pops wanted so good enough.

IT did have a 426 hood emblem so that's cool. Street, max wedge car=cool!
Only down side is the guy would not part with the hood trim-426 emblem, kinda not cool but I'll find one. (He has it even showed it to me and pops bit said he wants to save it) WTF???

Old pin striping and machine shop.

The tail panel is welded over but I forgot to get a pic. Aluminum block offs in the headlights also.

Bonus fact, it came with the trailer! My buddy already wants the trailer for half the amount we paid for car and trailer! (It was dirt cheep)

:)

It's one cool *** old race car!

Our inspiration pic.

She may not be the fastest car we got but she gonna be the most bad ***!

Wish I seen this earlier because the factory race cars are a 6 digit car in rust bucket shape. Second, there an altered wheel base vehicle. And that is not.

Reguardless, it's a cool car about to be made Bad ***!

Good luck, have fun!

Thanks, I think with the straight axle, some big slicks (car is already tubbed), a 440 and mechanical injection sticking out the hood she should be plenty fast/fun for what she is.

I'd love to put her back to max wedge but the money just ain't in my pockets....

:(

Any whay I think she gonna be stealing the show at the track, even tho my dart will be faster.......

Well, factory Max Wedge heads are probably hard to find BUT the aftermarket has options.
