Thought I would share some pics of the parts car 73 340 4 speed charger with a 71 340 I bought last month at an auction. Not an A body but I bought it just for the 340 and I finally pulled the motor out last week, car was stored inside and the engine still has coolant so hopefully all is good with it. I have already broke even parting out the car, had no title, so if engine is not any good I am not out any cash, but the car has brand new headers on it that have never been fired, all the paint is still on them. It looks like someone was trying to get the car on the road. Has an A833 4 speed overdrive trans out of mid 80's truck and a limited slip 8 3/4 rear 323 rear. I am going to keep the entire drive train for now, never know what I might come across to throw it all into.

Best of luck, man... I would seriously be considering a diaphragm clutch over, what's hanging off that flywheel....

are you sure it's a 1971 motor? just looking at the color it could be a 1970 or older 340. Can you post the casting date on the drivers side of the block, and vin number that is stamped on the passenger side oil pan rail please. Someone may be looking for their original motor.

I'll get a pic of the vin #, I believe casting is oct 70, I'll grab a pic of that too.

I bet your van squatted under that load. Dan

You could say that lol! I just need to haul it across the yard to my dads shop, I wanted to see if I could get it in my van.

I pulled both heads and intake, J heads have 202 intake valves, stock bore with stock pistons still in it. With 2 pistons on each side installed backwards, notches to the rear. I'll have to get more pics.
