Hi all,
I have a 2 door hardtop and am looking for examples of mounting points, styles and even brand suggestions. Any and all info would be great on the two front bucket seats and the back bench.

In 63 belts were an option, mainly on the front seats. Shoulder Belts didn't appear until late 67 on the 68s as an option and were mandatory January 68.

I couldn't imagine an easy way to add an attachment to the top rail for a shoulder-belt, so did like most and used newer seats w/ integral belt. I have Sebring seats in my 65 Dart and plan to install some Mustang Cobra Convertible seats in my 64 Valiant. As you might guess, convertibles have the same issue and shoulder belts were mandatory by ~1968 so many options exist.

If your front seats don't have latches on the seat backs, you don't want shoulder belts. Ask a crash test dummy why not.

Hi Dan, what's the second link suppose to be?

Thanks all for your suggestions. I am chiefly concerned with getting 3 points in the back bench as that is where my kids will ride. I and would love to see how anyone else has done it on a hardtop. Do you mount the reel in the trunk and run it through the back shelf (not sure what it is called) where is a good place to mount the shoulder mount point? Is non retractable best for this situation?

My buckets do not lock. Any aftermarket locks available to retrofit onto them?

Not that I'm aware of.
Some owners have installed shoulder belts with pre 68 seats, just like some defeat the sheer pins in steering column shafts, etc... They know and ignore the safety issues.
"I aint gonna wreck it anyway" mentality belongs to real human beans.
The crash test dummies don't know they are in for a bad day every day. LOL

Oops, sorry. Links fixed. The now-working 2nd link, and the link it contains, addresses the 3-point belt issue and the seatback-latch issue (and brings along the equally-important head restraints). The 1st link (with its own links to Securon belts bought from SVC) will serve for your rear belts.

Best revise that thinking, because your kids would probably like to keep having parents.

Thanks for correcting the link. lots of good info. And yes 3 points are planned for the front as well. I am just having to prioritize what I can afford to do in stages. New dual brake cylinder and brake lines are in the mail, and looking now at seat belt safety.

I made my own mount point while I had the headliner out. You can see where I put it here.
The Flying Valiant: Shoulder Mount Belt Reference

I used the lower lap belt locations and a non-retractable belt. I wanted to do retractable belts, but the problem is you need to move the retractor mount back to a new hole if you're gonna use it because it blocks the seat rolling back. I didn't want to drill more holes in the floor, so I went with non-retractables. It's fine, I wish I'd mounted it lower in the post because the geometry necessitates a strap pad so you don't get belt rash on your neck. I know it doesn't really protect against whiplash, but my main point was to keep from bashing my wife's brains out on the all steel dash in a front impact.

Thanks for the visuals. I am wondering if that mount would work on a pillar-less model like my hardtop. Curious why you went with that mount point and not on the pillar?

I have '64 Signet. I was researching this topic earlier and looked at the way 3-point systems work in convertibles, since they have no post. Most convertibles mount the pivot on the area above the rear door panel. On a hardtop, this can easily be reinforced and is easily accessible. In addition, with the side glass all down, the belt is not hanging in the open space.
