Yep...know all about that!

Also Yep... even the assembled ones have the stem clearance set at a "how can this work" lack of clearance. Reaming or honing is necessary.

When I bought mine, I just told were I bought them from "All I want to do is blow the dust off of them before I bolt them down".....gonna spend money on them one way or another, do it right at the begining.

Thought they would have fixed that issue by now. Years ago. I mentioned to everyone about checking them before running them because all of mine needed to be reamed .0005. So much for running them OOTB.

Uh.. mine doesn't have to be done till next weekend..I'll gladly take them, you can order a whole new set and see if those work out better.. LOL

Eddies have had those issues since the beginning of time. I am surprised your surprised.... lol

I didn't get Edelbrocks because of the issues I had consistently seen online. I went with Toth Performance CPPA a smaller operation who is all about Mopar Performance. My machinist hesitated to even take the job in until he saw the castings. After he was done, the very next day, he couldn't stop talking about how he loved the quality of the heads and how much better the casting and ports were vs the Edelbrocks. I definitely felt better about my choice.

What heads did you end up with?

I'm surprised to read about your surprise and wish you luck in getting things in order for the up coming event you wanna get to. Nothing sucks like set back and surprises.

I had a set of the BB heads and other than changing the springs and retainers they were perfectly usable out of the box. Ran great. But that was a few years ago and I wonder if Edelbrock has let QC slip in an effort to save money?

Don't forget the correct oil pump shaft. ;)

We've only been saying they all need to be fixed before installing for 15 years now...
