Do lower control arm reinforcement plates actually work?

As a Drag Racer type, I can't possibly fathom why anybody would do this sort of stuff to their cars...BUT!
I've got a pair of LCA's with the plates welded in already. New bushings, greasable pins, real nice condition.
Also have super thick strut rods and solid steering turnbuckles.
Take $300 for the package if anyone is interested.
I have an aftermarket front end. But, I`ve always wondered why a person would buy those plates, instead of making his own. A well thot out couple of pieces in the right places would do the same , be lighter and cheaper.
 
Yes, that's my video. I have made LCA plates, but I bought several sets from the manufacturer a few years ago. Better price than retail and, since I don't have a plasma cutter, much easier to deal with.

Related to that is that I finally have a pair of LCAs to remove the bushings from, so another video is coming within the next few weeks. I will also be more open for business very soon to fix lower control arm slop and reinforce k-members. I will be retiring from the day job at the end of the year, but will take on work now.

Resurrecting an old post.... Anyone know the thickness of the lower control arm metal. I'd like to weld in with similar thickness metal support.
 
LCA itself looks to be 1/8 inch. The LCA plates I purchased and welded in are approx half that. K know you didn't ask but I would also agree with pishta in post 15. Frame connectors made a huge difference in my handling. I used the boxed steel weld in type (you can make your own) and not the Car Tool that weld to the floor. Those require carpet removal, Lots of undercarriage prep and good welding skills. They do look factory though.
