RobKat Progress!

You had me at the play on words, I like the car and the story. These are the kind of REAL world builds that like the best.

Cool project you've got going here. I've always liked Pintos. I'm sitting on a 77 Pinto Cruisn wagon that belonged to my best friend who got it when it was virtually new. His family gave it to me after he died of cancer in '04.

Did you consider a 2.3 turbo setup?

Perhaps that would have been too easy, though.

I was not aware they even came with a v6 until last year.

Light and quik. You gonna cage it?

I think as far as I am going to will be a rear frame rail kit and frame connector kit from S&W Race Cars. Although these cars do not have a rear frame per say, they are pretty strong as long as you don't put a lot of power down trying to hook up.......which I don't plan on. This is gonna be a 100% street car and I am old, so probably no cage. Of course, I never say never. LOL

That said, here are a couple of pictures from my latest progress. I got the Ford sport wheels painted and the two tires I found mounted.

Well, not to me. I loathe EFI and turbo stuff. Just not my style. I do agree, it would be damned cool, though.

Yup. The little german made V6.......this car had one when I got it. Key word. Had.

Thank yall for the kind words. I didn't know how a FOMOCO project would fly here.

It s different.
A loved helpful member is doing it.
It’s still an American auto.
It’s being hot rodded.
It’s a Ford, not a Chevy.
It’s all good!
(Though come race day, everyone is an enemy...LOL! )

I like this one but I wonder why no engine shot on this otherwise very clean car.

1977 Pinto V8 wagon

A few weeks ago there was another wagon with a v8 conversion started, but it was a special edition late 70's silver and black "euro" with no rear windows except small round ones at the very back.

Nice lookin wagon.

I found some brake hoses I could make work and ordered them in. Funny, these are GM "metric" calipers. That refers to them having a 10mm metric banjo bolt hole for the brake hose. Wrong. These are the first "metric" calipers I've seen with 7/16 bolt holes. lol Oh well. I had to cut some excess off the banjo head of the hoses to make them work, but they fit and work very well.

Another baby step.

But in the right direction! Shoulda known a bolt hole wouldn't get you down!

It's been a couple months here? And now you're dragging home on some rusty old Mopar...

Rusty? Easy fella. lol I'm making progress on the turbo motor. Is that not good enough? lol

It's been a couple months. I'm interested in seeing the Robcat. I'm already skeptical about putting a 4-cylinder in it, you know I would prefer the 302.
Is that 4 Banger going to make that car $hit'n get or what??

I can give you some perspective. In the years when the Mustang SVO were made, the 2.3 turbo made just as much power as the GT with the 5.0 and I am using a larger turbo. I plan on spooling it to about 15 PSI once I get everything sorted out.
