oh my gosh my glad to be in Florida. I don't think the high today went above 65, but I'm sure it's a hell of a lot warmer than then we're most of you guys are.
j par, I sometimes trailer from florida to pennsylvania, but don't know how long I'll be doing that anymore. Why do you ask?

Helping people with there hot rods is my hobby. I'm trying to get to Florida at least once every other year as a third of my family resides there. When I'm out of town and I'm in the vicinity of other members who could either could use some help or just want to meet up and say hello I try and do so. And with that said If You trailer your car to Florida and the Stars lineup and I happen to be in town and have a few extra hours it would be a great fun to me to help you maybe with a small project that you're not able to do yourself and maybe keep you getting down the road and in you're cool ride just a little bit longer. That's why I asked....

If your wife can't /won't help you bleed brakes, change out engines, remove bench seats, and most importantly,,,, walk with you in boneyards, BIG swap meets ( help drag parts out too),...etc etc .THEN either you need a new wife, or, keep the wife and get a girlfriend capable ( she needs a good garage and tools to work in),,....
Be advised these kind of women are not to be found everywhere..

Now the PO question, I guess maybe your friends are into cars that are modern and require no work, that park themselves,etc.. they have no ambition, skills, etc....

Sounds like you have the Mopar gene. That is good. Yes Mopar guys are a little different, but that is good too , otherwise you would be collecting GM stuff!!??????? HA Never worry about being a little different.
LOL to each his own, I prefer my wife read magazines, do all the girly things and most of all, stay out of the grease and grime. It has worked for over 35 years, looks good, smells good and is an independent old fashioned lady.

LOL..... why I can grease my wheel bearings from what's under her fingernails... :D

being a "car guy" won't make someone a social outcast.. hell i can talk and get along with just about anyone.. there's always some kind of common interest.

if someone is a social outcast then its something with them. its not their hobby.

It was my worped sarcastic humor raising its ugly head!!! or was it!? ha

My life is great. We support each other in our interests and daily life. She weighs in at maybe 125 lbs., 62 years old, looks like an "older" model and has the temperament of an angle. . She helps me do anything, even car work. She has managed 30,000 ac ranchs in Tx and S.D. , been in charge ( shown many 2500 lb bulls) of a purebred cattle breeding, show deal,......she can palpate a moma cow, pull a calf, she can help change out a transmission, and.... clean up and sniff real good! ha

I guess some people would think both the wife and me are outcasts!!!! I prefer to think just a little different than some, BUT not all.

I am in Florida and so are most of my cars. My wagon is here in Florida with me about an hour south of Orlando. Might you be coming to Florida this year??

I think being social is a skill that some have more of than others, no different than a skill like golfing.
As an engineer I have been surrounded by many guys who are a bit socially awkward at best.

Ha! A car girl is the outcast.

Can't hang with regular females who are totally car ignorant. Can't hang with guys with jealous wives, not a lesbian like many other car girls.

I was a regular girl who came from another country and didn't fit anywhere or have any direction in life and one day I was at my community college signing up for classes. I needed six more credit hours so My adoptive dad and the advisor said, "why not try automotive". Having an adoptive uncle in the towing/ salvage business and being around a lot old cars .....i said .... "why not".
Never realizing at the time that it would become my lifestyle and pretty much all I think about.

Be who you are. Not what everyone else thinks you should be. Just my opinion. Keep on trucking.

Be a leader and sometimes others will follow
Do not worry about fitting in and being the same as everyone else
Surround yourself with positive people
Most important is have fun with your Mopars

my 2 cents

I'm an outcast until somebody needs a mechanic or some machine work done (or welding)!!

I was a non dancer, to the painful extreme. I didnt board surf growing up in Huntington Beach (!) as I sunburned in about 10 minutes, thanks fair skinned mom! I also loathed public speaking (dont know why I was in dabate class...?) so no dances for me, no talking to girls at parties, no really new friends in high school (hard for me to break the ice with bug ugly braces) but I had some great old friends that were in my class forever. Then I got some wheels in my Junior summer. Wow, that completely turned my life around as I loved to talk shop to anyone that would listen and many guys were into cars back then (although it was usually mini pickups...lame) but I hooked up with a bunch of car guys to this day I still talk to. Heck there was even a girl with a microbus that I got along with. Well, that and beer...that was a game changer at parties. I'd get a few in me and i turned into Buddy Love. I was getting winks from senior girls and half the time I didnt even remember talking to them at the party last saturday night. You want an outcast? look at todays 'gamers' with no physical friends, only the online type. That is sad. Hey, you got a few thousand friends on this site with a common interest and those make the best conversationalist.

Maybe I'm a little of both social outcast/Car Guy. The older I get the the less I like people and the more I like being around the car. I don't even care about hunting and fishing anymore hardly. So damn many people on the water and in the woods.

PLOW
plou/
noun
  1. 1.
a large farming implement with one or more blades fixed in a frame, drawn by a tractor or by animals and used for cutting furrows in the soil and turning it over, especially to prepare for the planting of seeds.
  2. 2.
a yoga pose assumed by lying on one's back and swinging one's legs over one's head until the outstretched feet approach or touch the floor.
Do you farm or you into yoga?

Question? Do you take your car to the shop to get the breaks bled? Or do call the wife out to pump the pedal?

This is a good one.^^^^

I was at a wedding rehearsal today. 24-25 people in attendance and besides myself, only one other guy there seemed like a car guy. The men there all had at least some college education. A few of them looked like feminized wimps that could not muster the strength to remove their oil cap to add oil. How pathetic. I don't think every man needs to be a total bad *** but there are too many guys that are worthless wimps.

yeah Dan, I hear you. I'd rather be in my garage or driveway turning a wrench on something or cleaning something. Nobody else should be there but me and somebody that I might invite. I'm usually lonely doing it, no 1 else helps me.

When I envision these video game guys, I think of Millenial age guys shaped like that North Korean idiot Kim Jung Un. (Whatever his name is) Pale faced, fat and sloppy looking....Terminal virgins that may know every trivia question about Star Wars but can't talk to women or change their own oil...IF they even have a car.

Hey guys, help me with something. I'm trying to figure out if I am a social outcast because I am a car guy, or because of being a social outcast at a young age, I became a car guy (not a good one). What are your thoughts on that? Do you guys feel like social outcast sometimes because of your car collection?
Hummm, I think the world can kiss my *** outcast or not!

ROFLMAO!!!

V8 roar and letter rip!
