Does anybody make forged Pistons for a stock rod and stock stroke 400 mopar? Don't want cast or hypers. Thanks!

3.75 stroke and 6.76 rod for stroker build. I'm not doing that. Thanks though for the help. May have to get oversize 440 Pistons and cut the crown.

Try searching for a set of: P3690831, 400 ci engine, 11.5 to 1 compression

A lot of stroker pistons to weed through...lol
I'm not after a stroker piston though. If that were the case,it'd be easy. Everybody's got them. Lol. Mahle is a 499 stroker piston. Thanks though.

Almost any piston manufacturer will make whatever you spec. Out.

Yea I know... But if more cost I'll just do a 451 like everyone else. A 400 that screams like a 383 is cool though. Thanks.

Those may work if I can find em. Lower the compression a bit and aluminum heads.... Seems hard to find though. Thanks JBurch.

There was someone on mop arts a couple years ago, that was going to do a run of 400 pistons. I'm thinking HotRodDave had something to do with it.

I ran forged Wiseco pistons in my stock stroke 400. They were 4.375" bore, and it was running stock length Eagle rods and stock stroke factory 383 crankshaft. Ran really well and loved nitrous. You just need to call any piston manufacturer and ask what they can do. If it's not currently available off the shelf, most of them have something close and will adjust the compression height for a nominal fee to fit your application.

Cuda620 I am STILL computer retarded. I've been trying to drag you a link to the moparts page about the pistons you are looking for. So.... if you get on moprts, click on hot deals/new products, look for 383/400 piston thread. Mike s is the author and the guy trying to get it off the ground. Worth a look at least.

400 engine - 4.342" bore X 3.375" stroke. federal mogul / trw / speed pro L2387F 30 - 1.825" comp. dist. flattop, 794 grams. maybe u can find some

thanks all. I spoke to wiseco but it was almost a thousand bucks.

If you can find a stock, low compression 440 forged piston, you can use those in a 400 if the camshaft is not too big. People did it for decades.

I THINK this is the correct compression height. I am not sure. You will have to do the figgerin to see. There were two heights people used. One brought the piston to about .010" below the 400 deck and the other was real close to flush. You could add valve reliefs and make room for most any camshaft you want.

Speed-Pro Forged Pistons L2266F30

Thanks! I didn’t know that. I’m playin catch up. Think a 484/284 cam would fit? Or maybe smaller as in the 6 pac cam if I use the speed pro one?

If that was pointed in my direction, probably. But in a case like this, it always pays to measure, measure, measure! You can use the deck height calculator on the United Engine site to see if those pistons I linked to will work. I think they might. But if you cut valve reliefs, they would be really NICE pieces for not a whole lot of money in comparison. You can rent the valve relief cutters from Hughes I believe.

the federal mogul L2388F 30 will be about .010" below deck, and is for a 4.350" bore, 400 + .008", or get +.040" or + .060" . the L2266F would be above deck about .060". the 440 piston is about 20 grams heavier than the 400 piston, close enough to not be an issue

Well then that certainly isn't the 440 piston that will work, but there is one or two that will. I just cannot remember which ones. Dangit all.
