Dose any members out there know the radiator inlet and outlet size needed for a gen 3 hemi swap? Have access to a radiator with 1 3/8 outlets , not sure if this will work with this engine. Thanks

Most , if not all , Mopar radiators use 1 3/4" lower hose and 1 1/2" upper hose . It is possible to find out what size Gen III 's use by going to your friendly auto parts store and asking . Hope this helps .

Factory G3 hoses have different size outlets. One end will fit the larger water pump outlet, the other end is standard radiator size. The trick is finding one that's close to fitting and adapting it to your application.

Not sure why guys fuss so much over what radiator to use. Just use a LX Radiator and Stock Hemi hoses. Only minor fab work needed for mounting it.

Its Light, hoses are off the shelf, cools well and reasonably cheap
Brand new with a fan assembly ~$200

I'll be using the Radiator and Fans from a 2009-2014 STD Cooling. The Srt8 version is not much more and is 50% thicker.
Radiator: APDI/PRO 8013157 {#68050126AA}
Fans: APDI/PRO 6017131 {Mopar 68050129AA}

Thanks for the info, that’s basically what I need to know. Which radiator is best suited for a gen 3 swap? Live in canada and don’t have much to choose from for aftermarket suppliers.

I agree with the LX. I picked up the entire assembly for free for my swap including the lower mount. The lower mount can be cut down a bit so it doesn’t hang so low and with a couple of inserts in the frame rails it will bolt right up as it is the same width. You just need to trim the flange on the rail a bit on each side for adequate clearance. One thing I noticed is here is a rubber flap type seal
Around the cooling area on the radiator that matches exactly with the abody opening.

Hey thanks the info, and the pictures. This helps a lot.

The pictures were invaluable to me as well. I am putting a gen 3 in a Demon. The radiator is hard to find in my neck of the woods! Appears no one crashes at high speed in reverse thereby saving the radiator! Thanks for the pix!

The nice thing about using the stock Charger radiator is it can be bought new w/ fans for under $200 off of Rockauto

Really appreciate the info about the radiator I'm putting a 6.1 in a 1972 Dodge Dart what year charger would I want to get the radiator from RockAuto with fans

I pulled the one I have out of a 2007 Magnum. The one thing I did not pay attention to and had to modify later was the transmission cooler lines. The connections are right at the frame. I am just going to run a separate cooler since I already have one. The other way would be to tube the frame rail to run the lined through it.

Where did you order a radiator from I'm getting ready to put a 6.1 Hemi in a 1972 Dart thanks for the cool pics

The radiator wouldn’t work for a truck motor unless you could find long enough hoses. The inlet and outlet are reversed. Which sucks for me I like that setup. The hose alone for a truck motor is $179

Bringing this thread back from the dead… again.
When using the “LX” radiators, what did you guys do for the cap and overflow tank? Care to share any pics?

The lower radiator support from the factory also unbolts and is the same width as the a body frame rails. You have to cut it down a bit though as it would hang too low if you just bolt it on.

Thanks for this info. Do you have any pictures of how you mounted the radiator ? I’m thinking of doing the same for my swap just haven’t figured how I want to mount it. I know the factory uses brackets on top of the rad. Maybe be able to attach to the upper rad support. Thanks

cut/weld lower brackets out of C channel on to the XV lower reinforcement.
Just tack welded a 1-5/8" machine washer to secure the radiators lower mount bushing.
