Whats your oldest personal possession

-
my ring with emeralds ....got it for my sweet 16th birthday in 2002 from my family.

At one point I thought I lost it because I had a jewelry box that got stolen and I thought the ring was in there. I cried for two days thinking it was stolen. Then a few weeks later I found it in a make up case that I had put it in and forgot. So by misplacing it and forgetting where I kept it, I saved it because it wasn't in the stolen box.

WWII souvenirs my grandfather brought back, luger P08 9MM, 2 Luftwaffe daggers, Hitler youth knife and a box full of rank patches and other Nazi knick knacks.

Damn that's cool.

I hope your grandfather wrote a book or kept a journal or something.

still have some of my Boy Scout merit badges from mid-'60's - and my pride and joy is a metal hat badge from the Scout Defense Corps - formed up in the UK during WW1 - 1 out of maybe 1000

I have a book of verse packed away somewhere that dates back to the 1880s (1882 I believe). My oldest personal possession is (of course) a stuffed animal. Mom bought my sister and I a stuffed kangaroo with a baby in it's pouch when I was maybe 3 or 4 years old, making it over 50 years old. She got the mom, I got the baby. And here it is chillin' out on my deck a couple years ago:

Might not be my oldest but it’s gotta be close, and one of my favorites. I have the pocket knife my dad carried when I was growing up. It’s an Army issued (pre WWII) folding Ka-Bar. It was given to my dad by my great grandpa, I got it when my dad passed away. I drop it in my pocket on days when I need a little boost.

Lot of cool possessions on these page.. I guess the reason all the things from many decades ago remind us, in general, of what we consider better times, maybe not easier but better??

Mine would be a 1882 Ansonia mantel clock, the case is solid brass(40lbs). My grandfathers 1917 enfield rifle in 303 British. My mother gave my wife, my grandmothers engagement ring from 1910.

Have my teddy bear too.
My pontiac indian head weather vain.
My 1st edition roberts senior power stretcher from my grandfather, wooden handle.
My '59 ,'62 ,'67 of course.
Got old coins.
Most importantly though... i still have my 87 yr old grandmother who just retired and has been the glue that kept this family together and inspired us all to work our asses off... but to keep family 1st

I'd have to say al of my grandmothers old Christmas ornaments, or any of my grandfathers old Kendall
Memorabilia. The ornaments are much older, and very nostalgic to us, but the Kendall stuff probably means more! We loved our grandpa, and sadly lost him way too soon!

One particular keepsake we love the best is this pic, taken at the Summernationals in 1978. If you look close you can see my brother, cousin and I on the roof of his display camper in the background! The camper is also featured in an old Hot Rodding magazine for having won the coveted "Big Bus Eliminator" race between my grandpa and the Accel truck!! Yep, we still have the trophy, and the $1 in prize money from the win!!

I have an octagon barrel Remington Special 22 pump rifle that uses WRF cartridges. Belonged to my grandfather. Used to shoot jackrabbits with it and taught my son to shoot with it.
Can't think of anything older that I own.

I forgot I have a couple of top break shot guns out in the gun safe that are well over 100 years old. Also a pretty old .22 that was left here.

A few of the recent posts triggered my memory.

I have a Steiff mouse that is one of the first toys I remember ever having.
Even if it was brand new when I got it (and I can't imagine it was) it's from the late 60's/early 70's. I looked it up and it's value is $200, more if it's older.

...and I have a Korean era US Army Air Forces flight cap that I picked up back when stuff at "surplus" stores was actually armed forces surplus. It's in GREAT sape. I'haven't valued that one.

I also have an 1800's monkey wrench that used to hang near the cellar door in my grand parents house. Never saw it used but it was always there as long as I remember.
I actually do use it. I keep it in my junk yard tool box. It's handy if I run into a large nut/bolt situation, and it can also be a hammer.
