its a 9773S

thanks

.

whats the turn around time? whats he charge? ball park? i don't need a show piece, just a rebuild..

Joe, there not hard to rebuild. Just take to throughly clean and be careful of the center section.

Harms will go through that thing top to bottom and will be perfect. $399 is a good deal considering

Joe , buy you a kit , tear it apart , soak that ***** good, blow everything out with compressed air, slap that thing back together and run it. ----- or ------ get yourself a brand new 1406 and toss that thing in a box so it can't burn your truck to the ground

I charge 225 plus parts. Be aware that different jets and rods are hard to come by. You might be able to do it successfully yourself, maybe. Be careful to not soak it very long in harsh cleaners, and never soak the plastic bowl in anything harsher than mild solvent. I "mellow out" fresh solvent with ATF.

Just say NO to any mass rebuilt type carburetor. The thermo quad in particular, has numerous plated parts, and they should be properly replated during a rebuild, not something that can really be done at home

I agree. Years ago, I once walked thru a "rebuild" shop on Capitol Hill in Seattle. They litterally had a pile of parts, a foot and a half high, of Rochester 2bbl parts. Must have been twenty carbs all mixed up.There was a guy sitting at a bench grabbing parts one by one trying to assemble some Frankenstein carburetors.

well i should be getting it back today. looks like the snow storm delayed shipping a day..

i didn't send it to harms because it was gonna take 8+ weeks to get it back. i didn't want to wait till the end of april. plus i really don't need a show quality carb for this truck..

i sent it to ohio to a guy highly recommended by a good friend. its called vintage muscle car parts, Vintage Muscle Car Parts

talked with the guy on the phone and was comfortable with him and he was about $100 cheaper then harms. like i said i don't need a show carb. if i was going show i'd go harms...

anyway he finished it up the other day. said it was a mess. secondaries were seized shut and hard to get apart. put new brass floats in it.. the primary shaft needed to be bushed and it was just basically corroded everywhere. after all it had been sitting since 1994 with no protection really..

hopefully fedex will drop it off today (tracking says its out for delivery). its been test run on a motor already so there should be no surprises. he said just basic adjustments like any other carb would need..

next i have to slap it on. do something with that exhaust manifold and see if it will move under its own power.. getting excited now..:)
