CARRERA SLOT CAR TRACK

Here's a track my bro-in-law had in his garage....1/24 scale racing....

The sight of the tall T next to that 1/24 slot car layout has got to be impressive! Now if you can just talk your bro-in-law into parking a few classic Mopars in the rest of those stalls...
Wish i could...unfortunately, he's a F*rd guy!! Track is actually for sale. It also has a computer track management system for running races, doing time trials, etc. We used to own a slot car track store here in town back in the 90's. We had a tri-oval track, a "hillclimb" track and a dragstrip. Also had a figure * track for mobile events. It was a hoot!

At first I was just trying to fill the layout with anything track related. Then it started to look like clutter to me so I decided to try to make stuff I had look more interesting. The little T-shirt stand has printed images of my racing friends team logos. The BBQ stand is a tribute to my affinity for chili dogs. Some of the characters I painted represent real people. I've got 350 figures on the layout now. I started reproducing vintage race cars that aren't available otherwise. I even managed to make clones of some of my actual vehicles. The wrecker I made has working headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and horn. The computer screen displays driver's names and announces race results. Yesterday I added a laser projector that produces a night sky star effect on the ceiling & walls. The hand written track signs were meant to add a bit of humor.

I really liked the t-shirt stand. The BBQ stand has "real" Americans hanging around it like the stand around North Georgia, lol.

It just didn't look right to me until I added more people that were standing in line. I keep thinking I should add some protective fencing around the spectator areas but I'm not sure I will. The way it is now it reminds me of some of those racing videos I've seen online where the crowd is right next to the course.

A couple more resin body conversions in process. - Starting to get a good sized field of cars from the 50s and 60s.
