cam rpm range on stroker

Looking at cams for the new 414 stroker but the rpm ranges on these are all shown at stoke stroke like 3500-7000,how much will that range change with the 4" arm in there,I can't imagine having to turn this thing to 7000.
 
Give or take 500 - 700 rpm lower.
The bigger displacement eats cam duration and gobbles up air faster with all else being equal.

I just posted this elsewhere LOL!
Take note to the peak HP rpm of power and torque.

Nice 300 rpm difference now i wish they had some ported eddy to throw on and see what that did cause i thought that number was a bit low.I'd be pretty happy to make my 10.70 number at like 6200.thanks for the video link
 
Ok 4 times a charm...

In this episode Steve took the stock replacement 170cc head and did a trick porting for 90+ hp push. They also used a super victor and lost a good chunck or low end torque. I would have very much so liked to have seen the rpm used instead of at least first before the super victor.
 
My pump gas 408 had a 260/264 @ .050' flat solid liked 6400, anything less and it slowed down, anything more and it didn't pick up.

who's cam was that and what kinda of numbers/ set up did you get,i'm trying to figure out a cam to hit my goal,see my other post.


And thanks rumble for the second video, wish the heads where a little less modified than the whole move the pushrod over but still good stuff
 
You get/gain similar results without moving the pushrod over

The cam was Hughes 3642 flat solid, .628/.633" with 1 .6 rockers, edelbrock heads ported by Curtis Boggs, 10.8-1 compression. Best runs were 6.57, in street trim it ran 6.70 at 3260#, all on pump 93.
 
Cookie cutter 408/416 stroker that runs mid/ high tens with eddies....... something around 260@50 and 600 lift.
Shift at 6200-6600 depending how good the heads are, etc.
My motor i had like that i shifted at 6600
Cam was Comp by dwayne porter. 260/266 598/623 with 1.6 rockers. 107 lsa in at 104
 
Stock ede's are SAD on airflow for a stroker or any 340-360 planning on spinning 6K. They just aren't that good.

Bottom line, if you want the engine to make any kind of power in the 500 range, 6K rpm, you need to port the ede heads. Get them ported to the 280 range and you should be good to go.

I never look at advertised RPM ranges. They are seldom accurate. If you don't know how to read and apply cam specs, i.e. Duration at .050, Duration at .020, lift, lobe separation angle, Overlap, timing events, and how they all apply to your unique engine combo and vehicles purpose. I'd suggest calling comp cams or another cam grinder of your choice and having a custom grind made specifically for your needs.

Now there is some crazy bulls eye, been there done that info that should really help.
I like how you posted what it likes with the cam you have in there. (6400 rpms) Would you have head flow numbers?

A quick look for the OP's combo and I favored the Lunati Voodoo Camshaft #40200734 which is right in that ballpark.

Rumble when Curtis did my heads they flowed 294 @ .600" on his bench with a 2.02" valve. Ryan Johnson freshened them when I built the 408 and he installed a 2.055" intake valve but they weren't put on a bench afterwards.

That exact lunati roller was in a 418 shortblock i purchased over in detroit back in December for a future combination.
Sold the cam to a buddy on Moparts. Mike at MRL built the motor, guy had pretty good W2 heads on top of the shortblock( was 11.9 compression) with them. Made 602 on the dyno according to paperwork i got when i bought the shortblock. Guy had it for about 200 street miles then bought a blowermotor for his Belvedere the 418 was in. Everything looked super nice
I am going to run a bit more camshaft( will also use a roller)and use it with the new Trick flow heads when they come out. Be more like 12.7 compression with the 60cc trick flows
 
Here is the cam we used in a 424ci/360 w/4.125" arm. This engine was equipped with a set of very good iron LAX heads. It was designed as a street and slalom racer. Super Victor intake, 950 cfm 4-bbl, solid roller 258/260, .660/.668 net lift, 110 LSA 107 ICL, something right around 11:1 (I cannot remember, I'm getting old) and running on 91 octane.

474 TQ @ 3,000 rpm
574 TQ @ 5,100 rpm
504 HP @ 4,700 rpm
598 HP @ 5,700 rpm
629 HP @ 6,400 rpm

Pretty decent torque down low and some power to pull with on the top end.

seems to be in the area thats being recommended here but then I see this comp cam that I was 1st looking at 20-633-5
260/266 @.050 but the lift is .558/.555 what kind of difference is that lift making,the heads will kinda peter out at around .550 lift does the "extra" lift still help?

Get all the lift your valve gear can take. I can make your head Peter out at .300 lift if I want to.

I just don't get why they all want that extra exhaust duration. Split pattern cams should be almost like a dodo bird. Almost extinct.

Also, you need to see the advertised and @ .200 numbers to actually compare two lobes. And that's still not the full picture.
 
Used the Hughes 6064 in two of our 360 motors.....the 408/410 strokers have the next step larger 6468 in them. One has the slightly older version based on the 106 LSA...and the 410 has the newer version based on the 108 LSA......

Would like to hear about the numbers and stats for both 360 and 408/410,et mph vehicle weight, gear, tire, rpm etc etc. Thanks
 
Signature shows the best of the 360s......the 410 is coming back in a few weeks as it broke a valve last November and the damage is repaired and will be fired up this weekend.

In the racing forum I got at least 3 threads going with each on going race car.....some of them are long....lol
