I have just begun the project of ripping out a perfectly good 360 and putting in a gen 3 with a manual 6 speed in my newly acquired 72 Demon. Here is a summary thus far. I am going to utilize a Cleveland Power pallet 6.1 Hemi from a 2010 SRT Challenger equipped with manual tranny, A HDK front suspension and again Hemi Denny rocks he is my new hero. I will utilize the fuel tank from the modern Challenger as well. It will be equipped with power steering and potentially A/C. I will do my best to outline the issues as they occur so someone else can learn from my mistakes. While I am an excellent fabricator I would not consider myself a mechanic, more of a parts changer really. I am mediocre at best on auto electrical. I have spent my life fabricating and welding/ millwrighting in food plants tied to Ag. I am handy with plant PLCs and three phase but a car heater scares the crap out of me! What I am trying to say is that if I can try this I think most anybody can. There is a wealth of knowledge out here on this website, you have but to ask and someone has done it already and got the shirt. This is my long winded intro, normally I will be far more brief. I will keep ya posted as I go and once I figure out how to post pictures on here I will do that as well. Anyone wants more details give me a holler on PM. Or anyone has any advice feel free to ping me.
Woo Hoo here we go!

So today I dropped motor trans and K frame out of Demon. I am on day 30 of a total knee replacement surgery so my effort is minimal in my attempt to not lose any healing progress. I will be going slow so all y'all will have to be patient with me. Here are my issues thus far followed by my work around. First and foremost a huge thank you to Hemi Denny for giving me the encouragement to pursue this crazy swap.
Engine diagnostic issues: solution Cleveland Power pallet. The pallet come with tranny pedals brain box and fuel tank

K frame won't fit: solution, purchased coil over kit with rack and pinion from HDK specifically made for gen 3

Dodge power steering pump high pressure: factory pump to high of pressure for rack pinion purchased reduced pressure pump from Bouchillon

Reduced power steering pressure pump overheats fluid: install simple tranny cooler on return side power steering pump line.

Stock oil pan not happy with K frame: Purchased new oil pan from HDK designed for K frame

Researching TTI for correct headers next

Here is 72 Demon, apologies it is not Sublime yet as I just got it home!

ouch. that cross support has seen much better days.

like the blue over the green anyday twice on tuesday through sunday.

On the bright side you need to cut out that part of thr crossmember to fit the T56 magnum anyway

Tr6060 is basically the same as a T56 magnum, at least externally. So yes, the upper crossmember will need significant modifications, a new mount and crossmember will need to be fabricated, and you’ll need to fabricate a new tunnel as well.

A member here does make a full replacement crossmember, he has a thread going here Install a Tremec T56 Magnum in your A-body

There are a few member here that have done it, you can just search T56 swap to see what you’re up against.

Cool that sure solves that! I was thinking about cutting out a significant slot putting tranny in place then fabricating tunnel back rather than screwing around with put it in take it out put it in etc shaving a little each time. I am lazy that way and am pretty handy on metal fab and heliarc skills.

So small setback this morning on progress, as I have explained I am running around on crutches after a total knee replacement surgery so my flexibility is not so good yet. Long story short while rolling motor out of my way I had a cribbing issue! Just me being a bone head and being my impatient self once I got everything supported again, imagine a 60 year old guy with one good leg scooching around on the floor like a dog with worms! Anyway I got it all rolled out of the way eventually! My goal was to get the dash out today, I got about 1/2 out but did get shifter removed and also ignition box in wired and removed. My cherry picker is in my race trailer buried in fresh snow so progress was a bit slow. I could not even begin to unbury it with just one good leg! Please note for all you good folks asking about status of old motor and tranny it is sold. I sold it to a great neighbor who actually has a Demon as well. Be cool to hear it rumbling next door!

You are welcome here anytime you are over seeing your boys! I lead a dull boring life so I am generally always around! I fear my hockey career is now over. Give me a holler when you are out this way and I will give you the nickel tour!

I think it will be more than a nickel tour my friend. I think there will be a car show there on the 8th and if I can get the old scamp out I will be there.
