Guys, I figured I would tell my story on a 91 Dodge Ram D150 that I bought for $300.00 in the summer of 2016. Prior owner told me it needed at transmisson, but I drove it home in 2nd gear. Began pulling the interior for cleaning and also did some maintenance on the engine.

Decided to pull the trans and have my friend blow it apart to see what it needed. Most everything was replaced

Reinstalled the trans and drove around for a couple of months. Absolutely loved it. It was burnout machine also!!! 318 TBI was shown no mercy and we routinely tested my friend trans building skills I acquired a set of 15”cragers and soon realized that the Crager hub was too small for the big Dodge hub on the front. Had my rotors and hub cut down on a brake lathe. Didn’t take much and I was able to run the cragers. Also my cousin welded me up a dunomax muffler for some sound, also did a cat delete.

Time to address the fuel system. Now most would be like why did you take a great running TBI Truck and change it over to carb. Well the TBI has its faults and I knew it wasn’t up to the task of handling some extra fuel. Changed intake, built a 650dp blowtrhu carb. Mounted FPR and in tank 340lph pump. Ran new supply and return

Changed distributor to electronic. Depimned the factory wiring harness so gauges worked, had to run an external voltage regulator. Changed/made a throttle cable

With the truck running on 4 psi of boost, it is super fun. 2nd gear burnouts for 1/8 mile or more. Had the cragers Powdercoated Black for a more sinister look. Ran it at my local 1/8 mile and it run exactly as my 04 hemi sport. 9.46 at 76 mph. And at the end of the day, it’s still just Truck!! I’m going on the HotRod power tour this year in it and we will see what the future holds for this combination. I have aqured a 360 magnum for a future extension on this build and would like to inject it. Just showing what can be done with time, not much money and outside the box thinking. I hope y’all enjoy.

very cool, i like the truck and the turbo build! What kind of turbo charger did you choose (size)? I already thought about a turbo SB, but have no clue about sizing the turbo...;-)

Thanks guys, I bought the tired and true GT45 that most people use on Turbo LS builds. My friends have had good luck with them and there cheap. I payed like $169.00 on eBay. So far has survived almost 4K miles.

Very very cool story dusted. My daily is a carb'd 318 W150, and my bucket list goal for that truck is to single turbo that 318.

It would be cool if ya did. I have the complete parts list and prices of ya need it. Did ya get your carb issue sorted out?

I have been thinking about a turbo on one of my trucks. I would like to see your parts list. Did you use the stock fuel pump? How did you go about oiling the turbo? Very cool project

The parts list is a combination of eBay, Amazon, summit, Jegs, VS racing, quantum fuel, Craigslist, junkyard and my cousin. You have to do some homework to find the best prices. The prices listed is what I paid at the time of purchase

Turbo oil feed is teed into the oil pressure sending unit. For the oil return I punched a hole inthe oil pan, tapped it and bought a pushlock fitting. I will post a pic later.

Here is a pic of the drain line into the the side of the pan. Note the oily mess the engine was and still is . Looks like I have some seepage around the fitting.
