Where clutch rod runs through firewall

Can anybody take pictures of this and tell which way it runs through the firewall. Thanks in advance.

moparlee received no responses from his query back in 2006, so 12 years later I'm asking again...

I'm converting my 65 Dart from auto to 4speed and don't know if I need a different plate that the steering column goes through or can I just cut an oval using the rubber boot as a template. I'd rather not guess as to where to cut the oval.
 
Not sure about the early cars, but later A-bodies were all cut for the pedal rod and just had a body plug in the oval hole. You can see it here on my '67 Barracuda, to the right of the steering column. This was while I was replacing the inner fenderwell.

Unfortunately, Early A's are different in that a large plate fits over a large opening and it's different on automatic and manual cars.
I have a manual plate coming from Sweden, but it'll be a while before it arrives.

i converted my 66 and now my 65 from auto to 4 speed i just used the boot as a template it worked fine.

When I converted my 64 Dart GT to 4 speed the hole was there but had a plug in it.
 
Mine has no hole or plug in it. I bought a plate from Ulf in Sweden that has the oval hole for a 4speed.
 
My old '66. The rod comes through the firewall, not the column plate. Oct. 19, 1965 SPD...factroy four speed car.

I don't see the plate at all on that photo. Maybe the '66 were different than the '64 & '65 cars?

Note Old Mopar Geezer's photo. It's like mine only his plate has an oval hole for the clutch rod.
 
Based on my experience, the firewall column plate is different all three years. '64 and '66 have the hole for the clutch rod in the firewall and '65 is unique in that the rod passes thru the column firewall plate as another poster indicated.

I have no experience with '64 or '66 so I'll defer to your greater experience.

I've since discovered that '65 was the only year that the steering column plate was different for automatics and manuals. All other years the clutch rod went through a hole in the firewall which was blocked off with a plastic plug for automatics. At least that is what I've been told. I would have thought the '64s would be the same as '65s. Can anyone confirm?
 
I know i'm reviving an old thread, but what was the outcome? I'm in the same boat converting a 64 to a 4spd, just want to make sure i've sourced all the parts before I start the conversion.

Look at the firewall for the oval hole.

On '65 Darts, the plate is different from auto to manual. I sourced a manual plate from Ulf, 65DartCharger.
