I have a set of the RCD bilsteins for my 65 Dart that are wore out. Has anybody had bilstein rebuild them. I know it’s about the same price for new ones but I want them stiffer. I emailed them to ask like it says on order form but taking forever get back to me. Thanks dustin

Wore out Bilsteins?!? If you want a high pressure monotube shock with more more aggressive valving, try KYB's.

I bought them used here the fronts were good the back are weak. I believe they were Autox with them. Dustin

Were you able to find some info about rebuilding the Bilstein? I've seen quite a few suggesting KYB. Not sure if you replaced it with a new one.

I thought the same thing...I'm impressed, even if they were bought used.
Wearing out a set of high quality performance shocks in a classic Mopar sounds like a life well lived. :D

If you are still hunting around for other options, I suspect that experienced guys like @autoxcuda and/or @72bluNblu would be good folks to check with. Hopefully they might be willing to lend some advice.

I wish I could tell you how my Hotchkis 1.5 Street Performance units have worked out...but I'm still a couple chassis reinforcements and an alignment away from being able to rip up the back roads.

What makes you think they are worn out? RCD Bilsteins should last for years and tens of thousands of miles with no trouble at all. And autoX'ing the car wouldn't necessarily wear them out much faster. Typically autoX's are relatively low speed events on fairly smooth pavement. Street driving around here would be harder on them.

As far as having them rebuilt, RCD would be the company to contact. The shocks are made by Bilstein, but they're re-valved by RCD Suspension.

What are you running for suspension?

Perhaps he meant "rallycross." Aka: "where Subarus go to die."
:D

I was basing the rebuild off what the previous owner told me. I bought another set of rcd and compared the two. The ones I have just look beat up but are still good shocks. Should’ve updated. Cheers Dustin

Great!

I didn’t realize this thread was that old.
