How big of a jerk am I? Or are you?

I would have politely walked over and said excuse me while I squeeze between them and the car, collected their stuff and walked to the trashcan and put it in, returned, unpluged the cord and said thank you and moved on. Point made, next time I will not be polite.

I could have told you the correct answer to the question without any thought at all. :)

That situation is on whoever was in charge and if they did tell them, it's still on them to make sure they abide by the request.

We're all good now people. Jimmy hipster got reprimanded and they are now packing up and leaving. I will have my backyard back shortly and the wife is happy. She got a new patio.

The smoker will be smoking soon. Headed to Oklahoma tomorrow. Will be in touch.
^^^^^^^
where the wind comes sweeping down the plains..........and the rain and hail, the earthquakes too, the tornadoes spinning, the turnpikes growing , the teachers striking......and greed goes on . yada yada yada.......

Jerk???
Hell no. I would have gone outside and said, "OK, you guys are done. Pack up your **** and get out of here. I specifically told you not to touch the car. So get out now or I call the cops." And you are right about young kids. Most of the problems I see at car shows is from millennials leaning on and touching the cars.

I'd say let them pile up their crap and park their asses in the patio furniture they're trying to sell. Any future offenses against my car would result in the entire crew vacating the property immediately.

I would have moved or caution taped the car off before anyone got there myself, so there wasn’t a problem.

Maybe, but putting up yellow tape is like putting a wet paint sign on something. People ignore that stuff.

Should have moved the damn thing then. Or just said no to them filming in the first place. Original poster is in the business and knows how intrusive they can be. I assume he knows the type hired too. Should have seen it coming.

Better to be proactive then reactive ya know.

In a previous post he stated the engine was out of the car at this time. They should have just respected his stated wishes in the first place.

Reminds me of the time I parked out away from all the other vehicles in a parking lot. When I came back, someone else had parked right alongside me. ??
This happens to me all the time! I have pictures to prove it. One time while sitting in the back seat my friends pulled into a parking space with literally 15 other spots. As I was opening the door to get out this guy comes flying in and all but hits the door. So I said to my buddies wife who was sitting in the passenger seat....20 parking spaces and this guy has to take the door off. Well the guy heard me and came out of his car ready to fight. I didn't back down but gave him my azzzkicking look and walked away. He walked across the parking lot through a couple of the empty space to go to the store he was going too. I wanted to go after him but thought better of it. I work in a prison so I don't want to live here

Nope. No reason for anyone to go to extraordinary measures to make up for the shortcomings of others.

And technically his answer was no. Unless they could abide by the rules he set forth. They agreed, with the sole purpose of getting on the property. Then they ignored him.

When I tell someone to leave my stuff alone, I mean it. When they ignore me, it almost always costs me. Mostly in the wallet.

Like I said. He is in the business and knows its usually is a clusterfuck. He also knows the type they hire. Should have said no or moved the damn thing has 4 wheels so it’s moveable. . If he did there wouldn’t be a thread about it.

Can never assume someone will listen. Obviously they didn’t listen or the message wasn’t passed on.

If you are gonna be stubborn about it then you have no one to blame but yourself.

If I’m allowing some clusterfuck to come into my yard to film I’m moving anything I don’t want touched. Or I’ll be there to make sure nothing of mine is touched.

A lot of work to move a car with the engine out just because a bunch of punks have no respect. In the end it's about respect of other people's property that's in question here.

I agree completely. I have been to these. They walk around like they are king crap or something just 'cause they can be on tv. I'm just saying the crew lied, and they were completely wrong.

Just how shiny or not, how many door dings the car has or not.... is not the point. The point was for these people which were guests on your property to respect you and ALL of your property>

Guess I’m just not stupid enough to trust they won’t touch what I said not to touch without me watching them like a hawk.
