I was wondering if anyone that has swapped in a relatively stock Magnum EFI in their A body has ever taken it to the strip to see what it runs? I have a 71 Duster that I use to bracket race with an LA 360, loose convertor with 727, and 430 gears that I am considering swapping in a 5.9 Magnum efi. My goal is to build a reliable cruiser with all of the amenities that my wife can turn the key and go but I also want to occasionally take it to the drag strip and run a respectable time- 13's. I have a rebuilt 5.9 with a Mopar Performance r/t camshaft, hooker competition headers, and obd1 harness from a 94 Dakota with the Mopar Performance PCM for a 5.2 Magnum. I will be running a 42rh transmission and 3.91 gears. Just curious if anybody has a similarly equipped car that has made some passes.

Mopar action did an article 6-7 years ago with a 62 savoy. Stock 5.9 with tti headers and exhaust. Not sure of the gear. It was tuned by a Chrysler engineer. Ran low 13’s I believe. I’m gonna try to find the article

I remember that article. I would love to read it again.

i haven't done the EFI magnum, but I'd expect 13's with gears in the 2.xx's
With 3.91's and headers, I'd say 12's

were you running the kegger intake?
no, i said i have not run the EFI magnum in a Duster. I was just stating from my experiences what I'd expect. I have no doubt a 360 mag, headers, 3.91's in a A-body would be in the 12's.

I’m still digging thru my Mopar actions looking for the article. Only 12 more boxes to go.

This was MUCH easier when they had the mags archived on the old site. Now...I feel your pain.

FYI it was a build on Savvy Savoy, June 2006

My 67 Dart 3270 lbs, 300hp 5.9 Magnum crate, summit cheapo headers, 904/3.91 650dp ran 12.5-12.7 The OEM stock cam was done at 5500 rpm. Upgraded to home ported heads, chinese air gap, lunati 235@.050 .495 lift hyd roller 11.86-12.0 A well tuned EFI should run the same.

Found the beginning. Not sure if computer users can blow up the text. Still looking for the rest
