I ask as there is a 1971 Demon for sale at Hot Antique Garage in St. Jerome that has caught my eye but I'd really like to have someone knowledgeable about these cars to see it in person for me. The quarter panels look a bit weird (too much quarter hanging out behind the wheelwell chrome) and I really need to know if this is a tarted-up bondo-buggy or if it's as nice as the selling dealer says it is in their ad.

Buying long-distance sight-unseen is a scary prospect but I trust the knowledge of fellow FABO-ers!

Here's the ad:

Can anyone help?

Wow, no one in Montreal.

Looking really close at the pictures reveals lots of weirdness in the quarter panels so I'm going to pass on this one. For the right price, it would be a great candidate for a restoration but I doubt that this dealer would let it go for what is it really worth.

Moving on!

Their Google reviews don't seem that good except for one or two...

Regardless, I did speak to the shop's owner and he promised to send me a couple of requested pictures although he doesn't seem very interested in dealing with a buyer on the other side of the country. Time will tell how this plays out.

At the end of the day though, I have wanted an orange Demon 340 4-speed car since the late 1980's and am only now able to afford one. I just want to make sure that whichever car I buy is a good car.

PS: Thumbs-up for NB! Born in Fredericton, myself.

After much teeth-pulling, they sent me a bunch of detail pictures of the car... I'm now convinced that it's a re-bodied clone. Missing fender tag was a red flag but the 8 1/4" rear end was a bigger one. Too many question marks for a car priced this high.

Besides, I already bought a 70 Swinger. :)

I saw this the other night but had no time to retort, I am in Montreal have a 69 barracuda myself (A body)

If you like hit me up and we can hook up if you like, but if you a regular with the MOPAR fans there are many here in montreal, some groups I stay away as I like to tread solo, but there are many folks that can help you here in Montreal and if you don't know any you will be surprised with the cars we have up here from Original Hemi Cuda cars to Hemi Dart (68) to a 72 Six pack RR that was actually driven to a scrap yard to be totaled (He kept the tags but what a waste of a great car, he should have just restored it as its probably one of maybe 2-3 that Plymouth actually says they built but no one has seen any) So you see there are many good MOPAR folks in Montreal you just need to look but if you like I can steer to you towards them ...regardless of the fact I don't like their ringleader lol...

Thanks.

I know Montreal (and the rest of Quebec) is Mopar Country, I grew up in Ottawa. The CMOA used to host a fantastic Mopar show in Napierville which I attended regularly back in the 1990's, I even won their grand prize giveaway 440 engine one year! Good times!

Yup Mopar to the hilt,
Hope you find what you are looking for my friend.
There is also 71( I think, lol) but a real demon,but with a 340 originally a 318 Opp 77
car. But at least an original demon and it's that citrus yella color now.
Regardless, what ever you do find. If you want a mopar friend, I'm just a click away,

I’d stay away from that Demon too. It was given a bad respray paint job as they painted over the windshield washer camps/holddowns at the top of the cowel, the door latch/striker and rubber weather stripping on the B pillar all have overspray on them too. For $27kUSD that better be mint. No fender tag and a 8 1/4 on a 1971 screams problems. The dent on the globe box door also shows the interior has issues.

However, some sucker somewhere is going to buy that at a price close to what they are asking.
