My buddy wanted a bumper for his yota so I told him, bring it by the shop and we'll just make you one.

It's still not done but close.
Gotta finish off the step and clean it up.
I didn't have the size box tube I wanted so it's two sections of 2x4 box stacked and angle cut. It was a lot of band saw and welding to make it look like one piece but I'm happy with it.

About the same vintage truck I had long ago. I got the electricians to use their bending expertise on some good tubing when I was working on SLC 6 (west coast home of the Space Shuttle). Good sturdy mounting for the KC Daylighters and large animal deflector. That does look good.

My friend and I built a double 3" (stacked) tube bumper for his Toyota 4x4 with a ball hitch on it and the first time he drove it with the new bumper he got rear ended at a light.
One tube was filled with water and had valves on it, and the other was compressed air with an air hose quick disconnect.
The guy that hit him threw his El Camino in reverse and took off. (leaving his entire grill hanging on the Toyota hitch):D
Didn't hurt the bumper any though.

Must be a Toyota thing  I had the same thing happen to me right in front of the local Chevy dealership. Some tiny little brand new Chevy on a test drive rear ends me. I can still see the look :eek: on the faces of the driver and the salesman in my rear view mirror . Destroyed the grill work on the little car. Not a scratch on my bumper. The salesman was very apologetic and offered his shop's services and gave me his card.

Or a Santa Maria thing.:D
