Stop in for a cup of coffee

Steel plate? It would have to be quite the chunk of metal.
And it would likely have to be the width of the roadway. Better off plunking a culvert and backfilling it. The pipe that was there originally was installed old school, and was undermined then the road blew out.
Yeah not my call lol. County highway engineer is who said it

The manufactures recommended tire pressure is pure bunk. Under rated...
Like i havent seen tire failures.
They all burn off and fail.
Poor maintenance and speed. That’s the combination for failure.
The crap i see people dragging down the road its a wonder there arent more crashes.
Hard tires are more prone to puncture.i dont see the need to inflate a tire to max rated pressure unless overloading is a possibility. Perhaps splitting the difference is an acceptable pressure.

We tow heavy. I've hauled as much as 45000 pound tractors with pick up trucks. Thru 33 states. That said, I've never had a blow out on a trailer. Old guy that runs the tire shop in town has always sworn by the theory you keep tires inflated to 90 percent of maximum PSI rating. Not sure if that is a proven theory or not but that's what we've always stayed with and it seems to work.

I WAS NOT trying to disrespect your views. Fifth wheel trailer manufactures are really bad on ratings. They overload the Axel/tires empty!!! I asked WTF? Well, 10 percent of the weight will be on the truck!!! No freakin way!! Not legal. They say it is...

Yeah, it's all hinky math by the engineers. We ran into that this very morning at work. Designing a new trailer for some specialized equipment for the DoD.

Engineer. There ya go. Unless they are something different than up here.
Local council hired an engineering firm to correct a roadway slipping issue. It was on a long bank adjacent to the river, and the shoreline was solid granite.
The first engineers said the road slipped. Like council didnt know.
Second engineers suggested
Straw bales and 1000 yards of traffic gravel. It slipped.
Third round was pushing posts/pilings into road.
Not a single one suggested drilling and anchoring a curb into the granite. The drainage foreman suggested it from day one and when it finally happened it was less money than hiring the engineers.

Its quite a job to place a culvert in an area thats probe to washout. Although rare it happens and difficult to prevent.

Swan River Manitoba uses ford crossings...

Damn shame I am going to wind up throwing a perfectly good modern Charger 3.06 rear diff, axles, hubs and driveshaft into a dumpster. No one seems to want them here or over on the modern Charger Forum. People are running the factory 2.65 gears on the RT and base models but won’t spend a few bucks for a big upgrade to the SRT 3.06 unless it’s a $4k Getrag being given away for $300.

But they will drop $1200 on a new exhaust system to make it sound better. :BangHead:

Built a couple trailers.
Weight and balance was my main concern. Loaded or empty.
I never even considered part of the capacity being carried by the tow vehicle.
Suspension/tires should be rated minimum 30% more than gross weight.

Dave, i saw a similar rear for sale, it was up for the longest time.
Wish i had the knowledge/skills to graft something like that into an a body.

I just don’t have the extra space to keep it around in the hopes of getting a few hundred for it. I would be glad to give it away just to see it get used rather than drop it in a dumpster as trash.

I put up a “Last Chance” update to my ad on the modern Charger forum offering it for just gas money to bring it to them within 50 miles...but nobody has replied.

Damn shame.

Would it fit in the Charger that Wolfie has?

Just the empty weight of Fifth wheels now overload the Axels/tires by about 3500 lbs. Then the claim the tow vehicle has 10 percent of the total weight!!! There is a net zero excess Cap built it. To save 200.00 per unit!!

I offered to give it to him but he wasn’t interested. He did graciously offer to take it to Carlisle to sell, but with so little interest in it there really isn’t any point.

I could have just left it at the place where I got the new rear installed and let them trash it but I figured it would be better to try to find someone who could use it. Now I regret even bothering.

Everythin on this planet is now built by the largest manufacturer- low bidder.

Ave on youtube had a good video regarding company buyouts and playing with good company names and letting quality slide.
Its no longer about the quality or the customers, its about the bottom line.
And if you cant beat em, buy em out and bury em.

My 2 cents on tires.
Any vehicle, trailer, motorcycle, etc... I've had I always went by the manufacture recommended PSI, and never had a problem.
I agree a couple key points maintenance, and don't buy cheap.

Is any of that the same as what would be in my Magnum? 2005 3.5 AWD. I have no clue what's in it. Not looking to upgrade, but spare parts is good to have...

Morning All. Quick driveby, gonna leave early and hope I can get across that road
