Beaker cars

Hate is not a word that I would ever use, I love all old Mopars. The beak varieties got just as much use as the others I owned, I loved driving them all. :)

I admit to just how worped I have become, Yes, I now see beauty in the square fronted flat beaked 73-4 roadrunners!!!!!! I used to hate them, would not have had one if someone paid me to drive it!!! OK so not much of a beak!
If, and I say IF, I found one of these running with a good big block and not rusted where it would take me 3 years and $4000 in metal, I would dig deep, for me, OK so it would have to need paint and be within my budget! Pretty much under $2500!! !LOL

don't care for beaks on the car, even though i own one at the moment. however, it could have been worse...

The first time I heard someone call them beak cars I laughed my *** off. They remind me of the 1966-67 Chargers popularity wise, you either like them or dislike them .Personally, to be delicate, they wouldn't be my first choice.

Beaker cars are like ugly women, they try harder!!????? LOL

Last beaker I had I drove 4 hours top pick up the inside plastic crap A and door trim, $100 bill for the plastic. . No doubt it would have gotten broke in the mail. Now If I have one I just do the delete those things, , I do not intend to replace them or that sorry hard headliner. I call it the ratty beaker look!?????

Well like some of you, they grow on you after awhile. Working at the Dodge Dealership in the 70's,most all of us had the mid 60's to early 70's Muscle Mopars. When 1973 cars came in we all shunned the A bodies thinking "How could they do such a thing?" The saying was "Well boys, this looks like the end for Chrysler." In 74 they almost went under. We got passed the "A's" then the "B's" with their huge bumpers and almost thru-up when the 75 Charger came out. After a few months things changed. We got in a 74 Dart Sport,318 4 speed gun metal grey,Black half vinyl top and interior, rally wheels E/70/14 Goodyear white letter tires with "DODGE" called out on the quarters. I wanted it BAD. It was a ordered car and was picked up the next day..Never saw it again.
Oh, I ended up getting a 75 Charger.... And later a 79 Chrysler 300. Like I said they grow on ya.......

I actually like the ‘75 Charger for what it was.

Not a fan of beak cars. I wouldn't buy one. But I'm sure glad they have a following. :)

I actually like the looks of the ''beak'' cars better.
And as a matter of fact, it's not hard to remove the extra bumper supports in them if that's the main concern...........
FWIW, the '67-'69 Barracudas were the first ''beak'' cars.
A ''73-'76 Dart Sport hood has exactly the same contours as a '69 Barracuda hood.
67 and 68 were not beakers, 69 closer !

I really liked the 73 Dart Sport hood with the slight peak in the middle. And with a lopey cam, it would shake back and forth slightly between the fender gaps. I thought it was so cool.

I agree, a rumpity rump cam can make a beaker look much better!!!! Especially if it runs like a striped *** ape!???? ( OK That was no racial slur.)

Okay.
Let's just agree to disagree then...............
IMHO, i definitely agree that a '73 and up Dart is a beak car. (It is very pronounced)
The '73 and up Plymouth a-bodies are too, just not as pronounced.
And the same goes for the '67 to '69 Barracudas.
It's just not as pronounced, but still a pointed front end that even protruded away from the hood, which was flat on the front. The '73 and up Dart hood will fit on any of these years of Barracudas, even though the contours would be correct for the '69 models.
I do like the looks of a ''beak'' car, and many don't.
It brings me back to the days when Dandy Dick Landy and the boys were running them in Pro Stock and Super Stock when they were new and i was a young guy going to the races.

I clipped this from a magazine back in the seventies and kept it all these years.

YOU BETTER CHECK UR YRS, I HAVE A 68 BARRACUDA, A BEAKED HOOD WILL NOT FIT IT W/O CHANGING THE WHOLE FRONT END, AND THEN I DON`T THINK IT WOULD FIT W/O SOME ADAPTING. 1967 EITHER ! 1969 YES SUPOSSEDLY, BUT WHO WOULD WANT ONE !
AS ALWAYS , DISREGARD THE CAPS !

I had a 76 Cordoba, it drove absolutely amazing down the hiway, but was the biggest piece of crap I ever owned from Chrysler ! Always somethinggoing wrong w/ it !

Here's the rule on noses:

Jennifer Grey was way cuter before her nose job than after. You gotta look at the whole face or you will completely jack up your acting career.

PSA over.

Some of the greatest car designs have been under appreciated for decades.
These car cars were always appreciated in the US but not so in the rest of the world but now it takes a bill gates budget to buy one
