Hello, I'm looking to get a vacuum booster for a 69 barracuda, Don't know why it got this way but it's shot and it was basically brand new... no use crying over spilled milk now, But I just can't seem to find one any help will be appreciated.

I don't need the master cylinder either ....I figure if I need to get a Master also I'm just going to swap on over to manual brakes.

Any one try that (Power to Manual) I have disks now in the front also with brand new calipers so I don't want to waste much more time with this, My car is running real "Shyt" with little to no vacuum ....car is running rich like its going out of style..

Thanks for any help in advance.
I have always learned something new with the members here when I come across a new headache, so I'm guessing I'll be learning something new now.
Again any help will truly be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have manual brakes on my barracuda using the larger bbody master and I like them . Back to your string of other questions it seems more like you should be getting a vacuum gauge and start from there ,if you aren't making engine vac replacing a brake booster isn't going to help that .

Well there you go! I just had mine rebuilt but at least there are still some new ones out there.

At that price I better get to perform a sex act back to them after the one they are performing on me . Yet again a brake booster will not fix your engine problems and your current booster just might work fine once you fix the low vacuum problem with the motor .

That's some $ for a booster and master cylinder. But then your are getting a shiny new bracket and rubber stuff with it :)

I have a Ram man rebuild and while it works great it looks like junk IMO. The plating is not right. I have an original NOS unit and the plating is awesome. Only it wants to leak vacuum under light pedal pressure. I want to rip it apart and replace the rear reaction seal but have been enjoying driving the car more than wanting to fix it.

I rebuilt my vacuum booster on my 69 B-Cuda, it was not hard to do. But if you have no engine vacuum, it wont work properly anyhooo. I got the rebuild parts on E-bay. Their are two different diameters of boosters, for 69, 6 1/2 in, and 7 in, if I am remembering right. The parts cost me about $200.00 to $250.00, with a $50.00 exchange on the main diaphram.
I would get your vacuum problem fixed first tho.

How about a vacuum can or a Hydroboost setup off an astro van? Do you have power steering? This is a $60 vacuum pump off a Ford truck. hide it under the floor

Ok guys, I'm sorry I didn't get bask sooner,
The mechanic has verified that the vacuum booster is shot, in fact he said he could have fixed if I got the diaphragm for it but I can't find squat let alone a diagram for the booster.
The brakes are super hard now and the vacuum loss is making the engine run shyt....
This is where I'm at now.
Thanks

P.S. Mind you I'm still driving the car but it's phukken running rich and I'm worried of gas wash on the engine... This is why I want to fix it asap.

I just got off the phone with the mechanic and he said we may as well just swap it over to manual brakes. I have disks in the front and had an 8 inch booster but I'm thinking maybe manual will not work well ?
What do you guys think, know ideas with what I should do.
Thanks

Manual will be just fine. My 64 Valiant is manual and I have disc brakes up front.

cap the vacuum port that is hooked to the booster , cap it right at the port and run the engine if it suddenly starts running properly he is right if it still rins like shyte he is wrong simple .As for the manual brakes get the bigger bore master cylinder from a manual brake bbody it will work great .Careful it will stand you on your head if you aren't careful while learning the lost art of threshold breaking but once you do you will never go back.

Still have my original booster in the shed and it worked great when removed. Bad thing is it painted black and you may not care for that.

Factory manual discs on our 67 cuda and brakes are great. 6 years now with purple brake fluid (won't eat paint). Manual discs will be fine.

If you go manual, use an MC w/ 7/8" bore (15/16" if you must).
I have seen new brake booster w/ brackets & MC on ebay for $170. They use a more common GM booster, w/ correct adapter for Mopar pedal.

I can't find that anywhere on eBay....a link will truly be appreciated...

Fact is as we speak they are getting ready, making a plate etc for the manual brakes, if I do find a booster I'll buy it just to have it...
Thanks

Sorry, no link at hand. I would have to search ebay, but not my problem. Please post the link for everyone else when you find it. Has also been posted on FABO w/ photos many times.

No need to custom-fab an adapter plate, you can buy a slick aluminum anodized one ~$30 on ebay (I bought 2). One is from Dr Diff, who also sells a manual MC.
