I have a 72 dart with 73 and up running gear. I am looking for the correct pressure line for power steering. It has a federal pump. I purchased an Edelman 80119 for a 72 accidentally. The hose is shaped right, is the right length, fits the pump fitting but has a female end on steering gear.

The bottom fitting is what was in the gear. The problem is it does not fit very well and i think it is not the right fitting.

Here is the thread on the steering gear.

Any ideas on what will fit? Is this an o ring fitting or inverted flare? Rock auto has a Lares 177 5/16 fitting? Kind of confused. I would like to adapt what I have to work but when I went to the parts store to looked totally confused.

Order for a 73 Dart swinger and you should get the right one (like the one that came off) with the O ring type fitting.
I got mine for my 73 from Autozone and it came with the new Orings.
(also male on both ends like your picture)

That is not inverted flare. I've always thought they were proprietary, "non standard" fitting. I've not seen one like your replacement. Maybe it was an attempt to eliminate the O ring and maybe it's just the wrong fitting.

Why is there 2 hoses? My 67 has only 1 pressure hose. My return line is held on with hose clamps(no fittings)
I agree and it does not thread on very well. Threads may be bad on steering gear. I think I will remove control unit to get a better look.

There is one hose. The picture is each end of the same line. It had a number adaptors to get to a universal hose. I am just not sure what the fitting for the steering gear is suppose to be. I am not sure what the control valve on the steering gear came from, 72 or later. V8 or /6.

So in 1st pic, the 2 lines hook together. Here is a pic of my factory monstrosity.
