About finished with my 70 Duster E/stock. 340 is not ready yet so I'm using my 360 that I built as a 360-380 and wondering what the rpm limit is. I used the factory port templates and has the 1.7 roller rockers kit. M1 intake/race Q-jet. Basically to know what gear in the Dana. Thanks
Mike

Converter stall ,transmission and rear tire height...?

Really, nobody on here knows what the rpm level of a 360 is? I've never ran a small block before so I don't know when these Magnum heads start laying over.

I have 4.88s with 29.5 inch tires, in my 73/74 Duster stocker that's not all together at the moment. The 360 is 75% together and the 340 is totally apart and needs assembled.

What Dana do you have under yours?

it will be all over at 6200 -6400 if it still has the 380HP crate motor cam. (.508 roller i believe)

If it has a decent HP lifter in it, it might pull to 6500.

Dana 60, I have 4.88 5.13 5.38 5.57 don't know whitch one to use yet. Might look for 4.56 at Carlisle. I'm leaning to the 4.88 with the 360.

Was wondering if you had a car dana or a converted truck one.

Ask physixx what he uses in his stocker.

His avatar sez it all

Yes that one, 6000 will give a good idea on gear. I'll use the 5.13 for the 340. Thanks to all for the input

Heres a dyno of the 380 hp create engine if that helps.

5800 is tops then for the out of box engine, wonder is it cam or head airflow holding it back?
I did the bowl work with the 1.7 rockers, maybe more? May do a little more since I now have the guide and seat machine, flow bench is in the works, need to get that finished.
Thanks for info

Well heres a dyno of a 300 hp create vs a top end change to a comp roller 275 airgap and eddy heads. Your mods might be closer to that one.

Is there really a difference?

Unless they changed the rules for rear ends in stock Eliminator. You are not allowed to use a truck rear end.
The way to tell the difference between the truck and the car rear end is the truck rear end does not have the mount for a pinion snubber.
Don't quote me on that but that was my understanding of the rules.

I think when they say no truck rears they mean no floating hubs (8 lug wheels), might be wrong. Especially since there was no production Dana for an a-body.

Sorry had to quote you...Stockers around here are all using Dana 60s.....which can be ordered with or without provisions for pinion snubber...and I would say,,,,99,999% of the stockers use Cal Tracs which probably means they do not use pionion snubber...

What rpm are you turning in those 3 cars? Are they cast cranks?

I thought the rules said that you had to use a factory manufactured rear end from the factory that was made for a car.
Which to me would mean a Dana that was manufactured for a b-body or an e body or station wagon that had been narrow to fit the a body. Or the a body Dana that direct connection made.
But if what you say is true I already have a 52 and 5/8 Dana that I could shove under mine. I would rather have the Dana than the eight three quarter even though I'm running a 904 with 8 inch converter with the low gear set in the 904.
I have slide-a-links.
