i am by no means a Nascar fan but when someone offered me a free ticket I couldn’t refuse. Tomorrow I’ll be going to my first race and wanted to know if I should fork out the cash to rent a headset to listen to the drivers and crew chiefs.

Absolutely ! !
First one we went to, didn't get them at first, took about 30 lap at Vegas, went and got them.
It's so load you can't hear the loadspeakers most of the time, the headset allows you to hear the narrator. The narrator makes you aware of the leaders, cars trading paint, spins you wouldn't see, so it's way more than just listening to a car crew as you watch a buncha cars go in a circle, you actually get to know what's going on.
You can also plug a guest into your receiver. Monitor diff cars, crews.
Definitely would miss one aspect of the race, without them.
Have fun ! !

Not for me.

If I get free tickets then more money for beer and corn dogs. Gave up NASCAR many years ago and have a radio/scanner and two way headsets that was cool then but lost its luster!

I’ve spent many nights watching the sprint cars run dirt but never been to a big dog race.

Enjoy, the headset will not add much IMO. If you are a diehard then listening in on your driver is cool, otherwise just enjoy and have fun!

Bring an AM radio...do they simulcast the races anymore locally? I know XM/Serius radio did. I remember seeing old men with their crystal earphone at the Angel games for the pitch counts. I would personally be board silly at a Nascar race, I would get the headsets. I work the Long Beach Grand Prix and the best seats in the house are at the turns that have the huge 40 foot jumbotrons that let you watch and hear commentary of the entire race from 12 cameras and then hear them come to your corner and make the turn. The funnest race to watch there is the LS powered Stadium trucks and the 5 foot ramps they set up. Guys get 10 feet of air at 60 mph and 3 wheels in the turns.

Get the headset. Listen to the broadcast. The drivers you can switch on and off as needed. Usually they say nothing interesting. You will have a much better time. Cant put a price on a good time!

I would spring for them. Attended race at AMS with my son and friends. Could only understand about 1/3 of the announcer comments due to the noise level. Also the noise level was tiring.

Threw a set on that my friend had and it was pretty neat.

Don’t plan on attending anymore nascar races though.
